I didn't relize that my area was part of the migratory route for the American Bald Eagle. Apparently the eagles come south from Canada/Maine and winter in my part of the country. I thought they lived out toward the western part of the country. I'm dissapointed I didn't have my camera because it was a truly beautiful sight.
I in the future will be on the lookout. Especially since I have the girls free ranging out in the garden.

Re: I just saw an American Bald Eagle
How fantastic it would be to see them in the wild. Not quite the same when you see them in zoos etc.
Hope you have a camera on you next time.

Re: I just saw an American Bald Eagle
I've seen them in the Canadian Rockies. They are fabulous - trouble is the pics we have look like big trees with a brown and white dot - even with a zoom lens - they looked better with normal eyesight. They do certainly give you the "wow look at that!" and goosebumps factor.
Um, yes certainly much bigger than a buzzard over here. Don't they eat fish primarily? But if they are hungry . . .
Hopefully they'll leave your chickens alone and keep their eyes on the water.
Keep a lookout Mark - looking forward to a piccy of a little brown dot with a white head!
Although cameras nowadays are much lighter and built in zoom so much better.

How magnificent, that must have been a wonderful sight. I think they are about the same size as the Golden Eagle here, the only bigger bird in Britain is the White Tailed Eagle. I love birds of prey, they give me goosebumps.
