I'm not great on this subject as I have luckily not had to deal with them I have rats in my shed they don't eat pellets as there in a safe feed bin but they have seemed to dissappear since my family got 2 kittens. So I would suggest getting some barn cats cats protection have them they will control them maybe. I dont have any other ideas yet though keep shooting them as well as it does something at least. Hope you deal with them eventually Will

  11. Hi everyone I don't know which one but one of my purebreeds has started laying but she has started laying in the run The run at the moment is muddy and full of poo so it is not ideal. Is there any suggestions for what to do to get her to lay in the nest box? Many thanks Will
  12. I agree with luvachicken use the flyte so fancy woodchip a deep layer no tarpaulin as it stops it draining.
  13. Keeping then separate for a few days (when they can see each other though) is always best introduction us ideal in spring. A rooster is loud and can be aggressive also there is restrictions where you can actually keep them. Hens are best unless you want to breed or have protection. Cockeral does make adding more hens easier but as I have said they have cons.
  14. I also agree with cattails I would go for some hybrids they lay lots of eggs and are vaccinated most gave great personalities. I have a hybrid legbar and 2 purebreeds which are vaccinated but I would go for hybrids as they are always vaccinated and lay lots of eggs they don't live as long but that is really the only con Hope this helps. Will Ps if you do go for hybrids choose the columbine legbars or the Sussex as they are the best 😂

Hi everyone I was putting some bedding in the nest box of my eglu and like always my legbar goes into the coop and scraped the bedding onto the perches what do I do to keep the bedding in the nest box as when there is no bedding the nest box gets covered in poo which makes the eggs dirty. Many thanks Will
  22. Hi Good to see the hens are improving the ditamacious earth does help the gut but not healing it I use it on my hens they have no signs of worms I hope the hens get better soon! Will Hi Good to see the hens are improving the ditamacious earth does help the gut in preventing so use it for maybe a week or less every month a tablespoon with pellets. In terms of laying the comb seems almost there depends what age I have a legbar hybrid she started laying at 22 weeks but it can be up to 28 so be patient. Will
