  1. Brilliant photo. There are definitely some positives about these strange times. Xx
  2. A rather belated happy new year to you all. I hope this will be a good year for everyone. I hope to be a bit more active this year. I doubt if I will get any chickens too scared of neighbour kicking off again. I do miss them.
  3. I’ve not been on for a while. So thrilled for you. Many congratulations. I feel like I know you even though we’ve never met. I have to agree with DM you look so grown up. Well done. A great achievement. xx
  4. After just over 11 years tonight is the first time that I have not had a chook to shut up. Our last little bantam died during last night, when I went to let her out this morning, there was no gentle quiet clucking and she didn't come trotting out as normal. She was the last one, I hatched her from eggs from Redwing over 7 years ago a little Welsummer bantam. She out lived all the others and quite a lot of hybrids too. I had intended to get some more to keep her company a few weeks ago but a neighbour who moved in about a year ago complained that my chickens were keeping him awake and he'd been woken up at 3.00 every morning and hadn't slept for over three months. He had also complained about the cockerel last year but shortly after that the cockerel passed away. He really upset me by the way he complained in front of granddaughter leering over garden fence at 8.00 in the morning as I was doing the school run. Granddaughter cried all the way to school because she didn't want our chicken killed so it wouldn't make a noise. I was all for moving but as we have spent lots on the house doing up the kitchen, bathroom and ensuite over the last year or so my OH said no. Immediate response by OH and DD to the loss of the chicken was you must get some more. I would love some more I've missed eggs and the funny goings on of chooks but am very worried about the neighbour. I was scared of him coming around to have another go and it brought back all the memories of being burgled and being worried of them or others coming back. It's been a difficult few weeks. Stupid really over a lovely little chicken.
  5. It isn't windy here yet. Pretty wet though. The rain turned to snow at about 7.30 enough to settle on the car but thankfully didn't settle on the roads. After 10 minutes or so turned back to rain.
  6. Oh dear should have read the date. It came up as the next post so I thought it was recent 😀😀
  7. Lovely day here too. In the afternoon we took the girls to Ferneleys Ice Cream and sat outside eating delicious ice cream. Then talked puppies with the couple on the next table. Then watched the younger two granddaughters playing and climbing in the outdoor play area . Lovely family afternoon.
  8. I'm sure they will like your application and if they don't it will be their loss. Good luck. When are you home next?
  9. Good luck Lewis. I am sure it will work out in the long term even if you don't get your favoured choice. Fingers crossed you get the one you like.
  10. I've got two of the Omlet stands in my WIR. I haven't had any problems with stability. Shame if they are out of stock.
  11. Oh my mum was rather partial to those. I didn't know they still existed. I hope everyone gets what they hope for on Valentine's Day.
  12. I think I read that Redwing was doing more with her ponies and not showing chooks at the moment. Both times I've hatched I got eggs from Redwing. Still got one of the bantams from her eggs. That is my only chook left now.
  13. The year before last I spent a fortune on dahlia tubers and never had one flower, slugs and snails ate them all. I had wanted to grow them as I remembered mum and dad growing them when I was a child. Last year I used some wool pellet things and copper rings. Some got eaten but I did have some lovely flowers too. I grew them in pots. I had planned on planting them out into the garden but I was too worried about them being eaten after all my hard work protecting them in their early days.
  14. AJM. I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. Thinking of you. Thank you you for sharing, it has made me realise that I only have contacts in my phone which of course in an emergency would be locked. Cat tails I will try to find out more about the iPhone medical id . That sounds like a good idea. Best wishes AJM
  15. Oh no. Fortunately OH who works a lot of the week in your part of the country came home yesterday afternoon as he had booked his car into the local garage. Otherwise it sounds like he would have struggled to get home tonight. I hope the roads and motorways improve soon. Thankfully we haven't had any of the white stuff worth mentioning. We have had very icy village road up to our main road. Take care everyone.
  16. It was very icy this morning. On the car was wet sleety stuff but the road was ice. I reversed out the drive and put my foot down as there were lights in the distance coming my way to find my wheels were spinning. Took it very easy up to the main road.
  17. Lovely crocheting and quilting. Congratulations on your retirement Blackrockrocks Attic 24 gives clear instructions and some tutorials that helped me with the ripple blankets that I have made for a few babies. Hope IVF is successful and you're making baby things soon.
  18. AJM200 gosh I hope you don't get much more. I hate the stuff, it's pretty but trying to get up to the main road scares me. We've had some that settled on cars but has started to thaw. I think even if we don't get any more driving to school in the morning is going to be interesting. Take care Omleteers.
  19. I agree at secondary school there is definite peer pressure to have a mobile phone but also I think it is a good idea if they are travelling a distant to school in case of emergency. I work in a small village primary school and we have three or four mobiles deposited on the office desk each day. This does surprise and sadden me. I don't think they really need a phone at that age.
  20. Nice to see you back Ali's girls. I got my bantams from Redwing as eggs which I hatched. I wonder how she is. Also Snowy. We went to her chicken party ( not sure if that's what they were called) before we had chooks. Both lovely ladies.
  21. I love recipe books and I often go through phases of using particular books and then DD will say can we have ..... then I can never find the recipe again. I need a way to record what I've made so I can make it again in the future. I made Stilton soup for lunch as I felt we needed something warming. Should have made bread to go with it.
