  1. I too would like an egg of any colour, my two bantams are quite old now but maybe they will lay a few in the spring. Chrissie.
  2. We had hail on Wednesday too. Today was horrid and wet. We had an archery shoot with Hot Cross Buns afterwards but it was cold and wet. Not pleasant at all. Weather warning for Monday. Chrissie
  3. My app says something similar, so am hoping there will not be a big freeze. We we had a load of logs delivered today, just in case. Chrissie
  4. Snow again here. Snow drifts on the way to the main road I'm with DM definitely fed up with it now. I need spring. Chrissie
  5. Congratulations on your first and second egg. I love pure white eggs. Chrissie
  6. Snowing here too. Definitely fed up of it now. Chrissie
  7. It has rained here most of the day. There are still a few piles of snow hanging around. The river has burst its banks around here. Lots of fields flooded. Chrissie
  8. OH she is so cute. Chrissie
  9. Ahhh that explains it. I did wonder what the difference was. Thanks Geoid. Chrissie
  10. That looks great Merlah. What a lovely mix of girls. Are they hybrids or pure breeds. The run looks fantastic. I am sure they will be very cosy in there. It is exciting waiting for eggs. Hope you don't have to wait for too long. Chrissie.
  11. It is 10 years since we got our first two chickens. They were two Omlet girls. Henry Penny was so friendly I always think she taught me so much about keeping chickens. I had planned on marking the occasion by getting some more girls but the cold weather followed by snow means that I have not had a chance to sort out the WIR and cube. Once the weather warms up I shall get on with sorting it out. It is also proving more tricky to find new chooks as the places I have used in the past don't exist anymore. I would like to thank all the Omleteers. Over the years you have been with me for some very happy occasions and some not so happy ones. You have answered so many questions about chickens and life! I have also been encouraged to buy things that I never knew I needed. To the next ten years ..... Chrissie
  12. I noticed that when I was reading the weather thread as omleteers talked about snow or lack of it. It would have been nice to know where they were talking about. Chrissie
  13. The same here. It is drifting up the windows now, as if we haven't got enough already. You can have our snow with the greatest of pleasure. Chrissie
  14. Yesterday OH and I ventured out to take granddaughter back to her mum a journey that normally takes 10 to 15 minutes. The roads were not good. 4, 5, 6 foot high snow drifts have reduced the road from our village up to the main road to a single track and in places where there is no hedge they are trying to go right across the road. Main roads had snow on them. Not good traveling at all. Very relieved that school is closed again. Three consecutive days. I don't ever remember school being closed for that long before and I have been there for over twenty years. Hi ANH. Glad to hear you are ok. Love the photo. Chrissie
  15. Yesterday OH and I ventured out to take granddaughter back to her mum a journey that normally takes 10 to 15 minutes but took nearly an hour to get back home. I don't ever remember that happening before in over 20 years of being at the school. Keep safe everyone and try to keep warm. Chrissie
  16. It looks very different but I am sure we will all get used to it. I was surprised to find it was already up and running. Well done. One question. I have always written my posts in purple. Is that still possible, I couldn't see a way of doing it. Thanks Chrissie
  17. We have had loads of snow. School was closed today so I had a day at home with youngest granddaughter as DD was working nights and managed to get home but didn't even try to get here. Our road up to the main road is a mile and a half off ice with snow on top. Very few vehicles have braved it today. Rather worried about trying to get to school tomorrow, I would doubt we will get another snow day. Chrissie
  18. That does sound exciting if not a bit scary. What will we do without Omlet for two days. I have only just got back into the forum but I do like having a quick look when I have a few spare moments. Good luck I hope it all goes well. Chrissie
  19. I am sorry I would like to take part but things are very hectic here at the moment. OH away a lot, DD doing the third year of her paediatric nursing so I am looking after her three girls will she is working and when she is off as she has a dissertation due in in April, also secretary of the archery club, work, builders in doing the utility and somehow I went to the village AGM and left as a trustee of the village hall and having volunteered to sort out their website. Still not quite sure how that happened. So I am afraid I have no spare time. I must say it is so sad that there are so few of you, I remember when there were lots of omleteers taking part. Good luck Chrissie
  20. I wondered if any Omleteers knew what you can and can't do with a drone. I live in a tiny village and today a group of men were seen flying a drone over the village. Apparently they were spying into all the gardens. They also followed a girl around her garden scaring her. When tackled by two different lady villagers they became verbally aggressive, when the second ladies husband appeared one man was threatening to him and then they all drove off. The village is now worried in case they were looking to see if there were properties for breaking into. After events of a few years ago this has worried me. Any thoughts or information would be great. OH thinks I am overreacting. Chrissie
  21. Glad you had a good trip Soapdragon. Chrissie
  22. That looks beautiful. Omleteers are so clever. Chrissie
  23. Ah that is sad news. Thank you for letting us know Cinnamon Chrissie
  24. It was a nice day yesterday here too. Still cold but bright. Went to archery in the afternoon and it was quite pleasant provided you had plenty of layers on. Lovely bright morning here but frosty. Chrissie
