  1. I've only just seen this. How very sad πŸ˜₯
  2. I paid ££££££s for a cherry tree and it has died. Where did you get your "twig" from please? Perhaps I would have more luck with something smaller and sturdier?
  3. Welcome back Sarah, hope you will be very happy in your new home. Another adventure! x
  4. A little update. This really has been a super trip. We've seen the Northern Lights a few times, I met the huskies and went on a sled ride. The weather has been pretty good. One night of rough seas. (Go to bed, it'll be fine πŸ™‚) A supportive group on deck late at night, keeping each others spirits up. It got pretty cold and late, but it was fun, and worth it 😁. I have lots of photos and memories.
  5. Yes! a reasonably good chance 🀞 We have a "Northern Lights guarantee". If they don't show up we get a free 7 night cruise! They are bound to show up for 3 seconds at some point πŸ™„ blink and you miss them! πŸ˜… We have a husky sleigh ride booked too. The trip has been booked for two years! We were originally supposed to go Christmas 2020! When we rebooked, I decided to go when there are more daylight hours. It's been agonising watching people post brilliant pictures of the aurora and thinking "we could have been on that trip". If I don't get to see them this time we'll do a different trip, a few days up north somewhere, and land based 😁
  6. Norwegian Coastal Voyage, Bergen to Kirkenes and back again. 12 days, 11 nights on board Not my chickens Ali x
  7. 14 years ago I got chickens! and met a friendly, wise and knowledgable group of people, who welcomed me into their lives. Sadly I have not had chickens for a long time πŸ˜•. I'm still in the same house. My vegetable plot is expanding, I keep trying, sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. I gave my Eglu to a friend who has rescue chickens ❀. I still love to bake, which mostly contradicts my efforts to eat a low carbohydrate diet πŸ™ˆ. My work commitments have declined, at least for now. My crochet skills have not improved 😬 Fingers crossed I am off on my dream trip in 2 weeks time, it has been a long time coming, it was booked 2 years ago. It has been lovely to 'see' some of the youngsters on here grow
  8. Soapdragon I have not been to Highgate! I'm overdue a trip to London so when I do get there I will put it on my "to do" list. I've been to Père Lachaise in Paris a couple of times, mostly I just go to the local ones where my ancestors are. I am fascinated by the connection to my ancestors.
  9. I want to be buried and I want a gravestone, weeping angels even, if finances permit! I like a walk around a cemetery. I have traced some of my family history and found some of my ancestor's graves. Seeing who they are buried with has helped me with my research. It's a comfort to visit them. There are very few photos of me as a child. I was the sixth of seven children. I think by the time it got to me my parents were tired or too busy to take photos. My First Holy Communion photos didn't come out. I never got married. I have no children. Unless I "make my name" somehow before I die I don't feel as if I will leave anything behind to be remembered by. Maybe that is the way it should be? So maybe somewhat selfishly, I do want a gravestone. I like the spike Milligan one (I told you I was ill), very drole. "Nothing lasts really. Neither happiness nor despair. Not even life lasts very long" Probably not that quote really! I will need to give it some thought and put my very specific wishes in place!!
  10. Hi Helena, I've googled a few Elderflower Champagne recipes. The yield seems to correlate to the amount of liquid pretty much on a one to one ratio, so something does seem to be off with your quantities.
  11. Hi, I love seeing your FB updates. So much hard work, but the rewards look fabulous! Cathy x
  12. Hello All, I keep popping on to say hello, but there is too much to catch up on! I've been "staying home", for my own safety, and my loved ones. Definitely no going to the beach etc here! I've been catching up on house work and garden, although both very slowly. I have finally rehomed my Eglu to a dear friend. She will make good use of it I'm sure. I've done more every day cooking, as my OH is busier than ever, and also more baking, but not huge amounts as there is only a few of us to eat it! I hope you are all keeping well, Cathy x x
  13. Do you walk regularly in the UK anyway? I'd like to do the Penine Way but I'm fairly inactive at the moment, I'd need to get myself fitter. I am firmly in the middle aged category. The only pilgrimage type walk I have heard of is the Camino de Santiago.
  14. I've dug out this post from 11 years ago because, finally, we have booked our Hurtigruten trip! We are doing the classic round trip Bergen - Kirkenes - Bergen. I am excited and apprehensive at the same time. Part of my apprehension is that it is nearly 12 months away, and who knows what will happen in that time! Another part of my apprehension is the lack of daylight and the freezing temperatures! x x
  15. I follow Cinnamon's progress on Facebook as they renovate their farm house. So talented and hard working. I realised when I searched I was going to get a lot of results for "cinnamon" on this forum! 🀣 x
