  1. I'm booked on a felt making course in June. I don't think it's model making, more likely a scarf perhaps. I've dabbled in the past, not to great effect! http://nortonpriory.org/event/felt-making-workshop-2/
  2. Thanks Luvachicken, getting a little better everyday x
  3. I'm so glad you got inspiration from this and had a lovely evening. Memories are made this way, and traditions! x x My update is that I had an enforced rest, snuggled up under a blanket at home, after spending the morning in A&E! An asthma attack, I got steroids and antibiotics. I did phone my GP, who told me to go to hospital. My peak flow test was very poor though. Made it through Christmas day, didn't have to do much as OH does most of the cooking. I've been to bed, but got up again as still coughing a lot.
  4. Happy Christmas Omleteers! Hope you've had a lovely day. Oh my goodness! so much work gone into my present. Thank you so much! A knitted bag, an embroidered purse, a knitted mouse (which I am reluctant to give to my kittie cats!) and some chocolates. Very talented! x x
  5. I love a good laugh. I gave me a big smile too x
  6. Clean sheets is a must on Christmas Eve, thanks for that reminder. Great idea for children's stocking, to keep them occupied. I have a new little book, it's about daily habits for wellbeing. It was a present, I'm looking forward to implementing some ideas! Whatever I do it I will be chilling out!
  7. I really didn't think this through. My postman was laughing his head off to deliver a parcel to "Redhotchick" 😂 I got a big smile from him and he said "Redhotchick!!" winked and jogged away laughing.
  8. 😁😆🤣 Gosh, I started quite a thing here! In the interests of full disclosure. I do not have children. No one is going to make a Christmas eve box for me (OH is lovely, but surprising me with presents is not something I'd anticipate him doing!) I know someone who goes completely overboard at Christmas with presents for their children. It is obscene and I don't say that flippantly, and yes, same person has been doing Christmas eve boxes for years! I'm wanting to put a few treats together for myself on Christmas eve. It will just be me and my OH, and he's not one for staying up late. So I'm thinking, cosy pyjamas, scented candle, face mask, hand cream, book and/or relaxing Christmas music, some nibbles and a drink. it's not really a box, and it won't be a surprise! The best thing I could do to make Christmas special is spend some time with my dad and have an early night. I remember having new pyjamas for Christmas eve as a child, but I'm sure that was my mum's way of encouraging us to get ready for bed! Also new clothes for Christmas day. As an adult I can remember opening a present at midnight in my mum's kitchen. Happy times.
  9. Does anyone make Christmas eve present boxes? What do you put in them? Pyjamas, what else?
  10. I'm making chicken stock and the kitchen is filled with its delicious smell. I haven't made any for ages. it is going to become rice soup.
  11. I have done some of mine, when is the latest posting date again?!? I will crack on this week x
  12. Hi! We did! Hooray! it was the thing that put me off going to India for years! We had a plan... Scrupulous hand hygiene! we took the Clinell hand wipes and some antibacterial hand gel. We washed our hands before eating, everywhere has a sink to wash your hands. We would have liked to try more street food, but only saw samosas and Pani puri. We didn't eat the Pani Puri as the filling (tamarind water? was made with unfiltered water, or so we were told) We did have samosas and chai tea. Our other secret weapon was Peptobismol tablets. Had between one and 3 a day. Brilliant!
  13. Loving the pics and food info from Japan, and the new pond. I got back from India last night. We went round Rajasthan for 2 weeks. My first time in India. I loved it, and have developed a taste for masala chai. I've never been a tea drinker in my life! I like this picture because it's colourful. I mostly took photos without people in, which is a shame! OH has some. I'll have to go back and take some more! x
  14. Finished my second square. I'm happier with it. It's going to take me a long time to make a blanket at this rate! x x
  15. Well I've been around long enough, so it's probably time I joined in... This morning I went on the Omlet Forum and accidentally joined a craft swap with: Luvachicken Cat tails Ursula Patricia W Plum Redhotchick Have I missed anyone? Here goes nothing! x x
  16. Hi all, thanks for nice comments about first square. I have started the second and I am writing the steps down. it's the changes between "rounds" that I'm not sure about. I could probably do Christmas swap, maybe not crochet though! x x
  17. Maybe I should use a smaller hook? I also struggled to get the hook through, so loosened it off to compensate. Don't give up Grandmashazzie! x x
  18. I did really struggle with tension. Should I be aiming for the whole thing to be tighter? x
  19. Hi, Popped on to the forum to share this. Everything has changed! I can't find the craft section! How are you all doing? Anyway, my very first granny square. Lots of mistakes. Would you unravel and start again, or accept that it will blend in and not be noticed in a blanket? Any tips for future squares? Love, Cathryn x
  20. Hello, sorry to hear this. I can't recall Trish, but I'm always saddened to hear of a loss in our community. I log on infrequently and it seems every time I do there is some sad news x
  21. I love Paris, glad you've had a good time, but oh my goodness! I've been about 6 times and never seen or heard of these scams! Good advice. As others have said Paris is like any big city. Be aware. My OH is cautious and tends to stay away from touristy areas. We have seen the main sights but tend to forge our own way. We've found lovely walks, restaurants and parks. I once made a map of urban graffiti sites and we walked around looking at them. I gave it away to someone who expressed an interest. I wonder if all that graffiti is still there anyway.
  22. Yes, glad I pushed ahead with the idea. We do something for most of the charity days (any excuse for a bit of fun) The test of how successful it was is not just financial, but whether people would want to do it again!!
  23. Everyone is moving to France! So exciting! I would like to move to France for a few months one day. In the meantime I can't wait to hear all about your experiences. Bonne chance! x
