    Notifications from 'elastic email'?

Hi Clare, James had to do some changes to the way emails generated by the forum were sent because I was getting so many returned to me. The change to elastic email seems to have solved the problem this end as I am no longer getting any private message/topic notification/account activation emails returned via the postmaster. I don't know any more about it though so if you have any questions, email James or Matt as they will be able to help.

    no notifications

Hi OSH, I was just about to reply to your email but I might as well post on here in case anyone else is having problems with notifications for topics not arriving. There are some problems with Omlet emails being treated as spam by some service providers and I'm getting these notification messages returned to me by the Postmaster as my email address is also the forum email address. The problem with hotmail accounts seems to have been sorted out now because I haven't received any undelivered emails for these for a few days now. However, AOL accounts are still being affected along with a few others so bear with us. The technical boys are working on it and I'm sure they will get round the problem eventually. In the meantime, I'm afraid you'll need to keep an eye on the topics when you log in and I'm really sorry about the inconvenience this causes. Hopefully it's only a temporary glitch though.

    Spammers again......

Thanks to the 2 members who reported the post. I had to deactivate them before removing the posts to stop them posting any more .

    Name change

@ Pooh! It would be an appropriate username on a chicken forum, I suppose. Sha dropped me an email to let me know what you'd decided to change your username to and the deed is done . Not Pooh but Valkyrie..........I've got The Ride of the Valkyrie running through my head now . If you have any log in problems now, let me know and I'll see what I can do but it should all run smoothly.

    Not receiving topic notifications

My barbara@omlet.co.uk email address is the one used by the forum to send out automatically generated emails for PMs etc. As a result, I get a lot of forum members email notifications returned to me by the Postmaster because the email address is incorrect so if you're not receiving any, it might be worth checking that your profile details are correct .

    breeders near St Albans?

Aha! I've heard good things about them from others too so they're already on my list, James . Glad to hear you had such a good experience with them too .

    breeders near St Albans?

Which breeder did you use in Suffolk, James? Would you recommend them?

Ireland, Chickens in the Mid West.

It's OK, Claret, I have already seen this post and have noted down the information for my breeders list. I browse the forum regularly and keep an eye out for breeder recommendations like this .
  13. Hello Omleteers, A customer has passed on a warning which I would like to share with you to avoid any of you having to deal with the same consequences as he has. The customer's dog managed to eat a few stale grains of poultry food which had been spilled and left on the ground when the coop was moved to a new position in the garden. Shortly afterwards, the dog became very ill indeed with toxic poisoning and ended up on a drip at the vets for 3 days. It was touch and go whether the dog would survive. Fortunately it has but may have lasting liver damage and it has been a very expensive and frightening experience for its owner . Please be aware that stale grains in poultry food can be fatal to pets. Make sure that poultry feeders are cleaned out regularly and if you have other pets, ensure that any spilled mouldy food is cleaned away promptly to prevent it from being eaten.

    How many maggots?

Hi Betty, I don't know if this is of any use to you but this vet is supposed to be bird friendly and has also been recommended to me by a customer Steve Smith Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre 1 Tring Road Halton Aylesbury Buckinghamshire HP22 5PN 01296 623439 Fax: 01296 622112 http://www.whvc.co.uk There are a few others which are slightly further afield too: Aston Clinton Veterinary Centre 107 Aylesbury Road Aston Clinton Bucks HP22 5AJ 01296 630600 Park Veterinary Centre, 256 Cassiobury Drive Watford WD17 3PA Tel.01923 818681 The Henley Veterinary Centre Reading road, Henley-on-Thames Oxfordshire 01491 - 574490 My information is getting a bit dated now though so it's always worth giving the surgeries a call first to see if they are still prepared to treat chickens. Good luck!!
