  1. Mine is still working thankfully. I still love it.
  2. She is lovely and it sounds as if she is fitting in well. You will be looking forward to getting out for long walks with her
  3. I have only just got it and so have been trying out all the stitches. It has a computerised screen so I am trying hard to read the instruction manual rather than just rushing in and guessing It even cuts the thread for you which is so lovely. I am making up blocks for a quilt using different techniques at the moment so am looking forward to using it for that. My purchase seems to have worked out ok but it was a bit of a worry as you have to trust the seller.
  4. I was on a while ago burbling about machines. Well the update is that I have purchased a second hand one from eBay! I held my breath a bit as I was so worried there maybe a problem with it but it is fine It is a Janone Memorycraft and has all the features I wanted. I am really happy with it.
  5. When I ordered mine they thought it would be a bit late for the delivery to be the next day but I was surprised to get a text from the courier to say they would be delivering. Then I got a text to say it hadn't made the van, but it arrived anyway I had informed them that if I wasn't in to leave with my neighbour so timing didn't matter.
  6. Wow, thanks for this I was able to get a 5kg bag which is fine for my two girls. I have always had to buy the 10kg one locally and throw a lot out.
  7. Choosing would be easy without the price ticket getting in the way
  8. It will take me ages to choose. I spend so long researching and asking opinion about buying anything Unless I find something fab on gumtree I will most likely wait until I get a chance at the Edinburgh show to try some out before I buy.
  9. That sounds really great service. I have just read some reviews and some were not that good for the Singer. I am sooo confused I will need to try them out to be sure.
  10. I use the walking foot and a foot for free motion work. I didn't know you could get an adapter for some work. What does this help you do? Thanks for all your helpful advise. It is nice to hear that Janome is not the be all and end all. As I mentioned in the group I go to I reckon about 90% have this make. My Singer doesn't jump or cause any problems. I just feel I would love the needle up/down, stitch lock and thread cutter. Plus the alphabet! A bigger throat would be good as I have struggled to shove quilts through but I think that pushes up the cost too much. I am really going towards the new Singer I think and should be able to try it out at the show (so looking forward to another bus trip ). I know that the aftersales service for Singer is not great as you have to post your machine away . I am watching gumtree but there hasn't been much and I bid on one on eBay but was worried incase it wasn't all it seemed to be. So much to think about!
  11. Hello Not posted on the forum for ages until yesterday . Just seem to have been busy.
  12. Olly- The point about feet is something I should think about as I have bought several Singer ones . Blackrocksrock-I would like to consider a second hand one as there are a lot of features I would like but the shop nearby doesn't have them. I think I would need to go to Edinburgh or Stirling for that and I am on the other coast. I have been looking at a lot of reviews online. I was at the show Friday morning as a volunteer at one of the quilting areas as I belong to a quilting group and then had a look round in the afternoon. There is a Knitting and Quilting show at the end of April beginning of May in Edinburgh. It is run by the people who have the Harrogate one (a bus trip usually goes to that one from here). Are you going to that one?
  13. Our wildlife pond was leaking last year so I gave it a bit of a helping hand with a liner. I am hoping for frog spawn too as we have some frogs in the garden It is lovely to think spring is in the air.
  14. That's interesting that you have tried different makes. I was told it may be best to get two machines as often those that sew well don't have much on the embroidery side. But I really don't want to spend a fortune. At SECC show the Brother lady was showing me a couple of machines and then dropped in that they were 2k and 3k each I suppose if you were sewing professionally that would be understandable but as a hobby, no. Well not for me anyway.
  15. You do indeed sound to have been unlucky I have a poodle and she had a bad bout of colitis which they are apparently prone to several years ago. On the vet's advice I changed her to James Wellbeloved fish and rice and she has been mainly fine since (apart from the time she ate OH's sausage supper ). She did have some anal gland issues recently and we were advised to give her more roughage and bran flakes were suggested by the vet nurse. However she seemed to have a bit of a reaction to the change in her diet, albeit she didn't get many. So we are giving her some carrot which she seems fine with. I sometimes help my friend in her pet shop and it is very interesting to hear about various breeds issues. From my point of view it is also interesting to see all the poodle crosses that come in. Some who are more poodle have reported colitis issues. On an aside it is also interesting to note their behaviour. Some cockerpoos you see exhibit the spaniel excitement and exuberance and others show the poodle concentration which makes them so easy to train.
  16. Hi everyone, I haven't posted for ages but love to see all your work. So lovely I am thinking of upgrading my sewing machine as in the last year I have discovered quilting in a big way. My latest passion is foundation piecing as you can get such perfect points. I have a Singer Curvy which I bought at a show about 5 years ago but would like to get one with needle up/down and all the lovely extras that help with quilting. I would also like a few alphabet fonts. Most of the ladies in the class I go to have Janome but it maybe that is because there is a retailer in the area. I have always liked my Singer although I know some folk don't rate them now. I have spotted a Singer Quantum that looks wonderful but just wondered what the thoughts were on here about machines at the moment.
  17. I am still using mine everyday and my dentist is pleased with how things look when I go too
  18. This all sounds so exciting for you. I hope you find the perfect job
