  1. We have a Keder greenhouse - which is a cross between a greenhouse and a polytunnel. Their customer service was excellent and the installation went really well despite the awful ground they had to put the frame posts into!
  2. I planted mine last September....and harvested it 3 weeks ago, that's a bit earlier than usual.
  3. We're not impressed with the programme either - it doesn't feel like proper allotment growing, more 'growing for show' .... which we're not interested in watching.
  4. Like sjp, I don't even sow squash until the end of April/beginning of May - they prefer the warmer weather and they all catch up. I grew 70 fruits last year.....we're still eating them!
  5. They're all on FB so I hear a lot about them all. Kate and I joined the forum on the same day - 10 years ago!, I chat to Kate every day by email.
  6. My son in law had one for his birthday last week and set it up in minutes - I'm not easily impressed by technology but this seemed pretty amazing!
  7. Thanks Clare, we're hoping she'll like dark green - there are Dessy stockists in Stratford and Leamington as well so we'll have the choice of three shops if not. It was a long weekend with a lot of travelling for her and she can't come to Aquafit this morning as her shoulder is too sore - 2 weeks to her Prom.....
  8. Just thought I'd let you know that Lauren managed her day as bridesmaid on Saturday - with just 3 shoulder dislocations! No wheelchair and no crutches needed. I've popped back to this thread to see where you bought Rosie's dress as I was charged with trying to dye Lauren's from the dark green to black.....it won't dye because of the fabric and it's come out darker green. No doubt it will have to be right for her Prom and her Dad will have to dig into his pocket
  9. I cannot believe it! that is the exact same dress as Lauren is wearing as a bridesmaid at the end of March.......and for her Prom in April Because of all her dislocations she IS going to be wearing DMs with hers so that she has the ankle support - the bride to be was OK with that. If she's having a good day she does have some pumps with a low heel - if it's a bad day she'll be accessorizing with the wheelchair and/or crutches! Glad you've found some shoes that Rosie approves of
  10. You could try Groupon for driving related outings - they generally have a few. My son will be 40 next month and my sister will be 50 in May.....they went to Iceland to see the Northern Lights but I'm arranging both parties, just small, family stuff as they've done the big stuff. My own big birthday (I'm already officially old!) will be right at the end of the year, I'm still pondering what to do....in the gloomy days between Christmas and New Year We also have a joint '150 years old' party to arrange in mid summer - so I'm watching to see what others have done.
  11. I'm glad it's back They're looking for people to take part in series 3 as well
  12. I make a similar one and bake it in either the Dutch oven or a large round pyrex dish and lid - it makes a lovely loaf doesn't it. We don't knead any of our bread anymore as we learnt a 'slap and flip' method on a breadmaking course and it's much easier than kneading but takes a bit longer than the 'no knead' method so we make whichever we have time for.
  13. I made a vegan/dairy free version the other day using Moo dairy free chocolate and soya cream - they worked wel, the Moo chocolate is lovely and melts well.
  14. I always use Viennese biscuit in mine http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/viennese_whirls_78348 I use this mixture as topping on mince pies as well, instead of pastry, just pipe a circle on top of the mincemeat before baking.
  15. Ooooooh, didn't know about those, can't find them on Amazon - are they like kindle daily deal? I think it must have been part of the Daily Deals thing......some books are 1p and others aren't much more....but don't ask me how I found it
  16. Christian, have you signed up for the 1p deals? I didn't think there were any I was interested in until one day I clicked on one which might be suitable.....then it gave me a long list of 'if you like this you might like these'...........I bought 20 books for about £3.
  17. The book is half price on Amazon at the moment....I haven't looked elsewhere to see if it is the same in all bookshops.
  18. It could be a Kidd's Orange - tastes a bit like a Cox's..... http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=1244 I still have some on the tree, they last well into Autumn.
  19. I'll be making mine with Aldi canned chestnuts again, they worked well.
  20. Too true! Our hefty mortgage has nearly sunk us many times over the last 3 years or so. We have to work to service the mortgage but the farm work still has to be done. We still love it but it can be very hard at times.
  21. Just what I was about to say!
