  1. Like @Cat tailsI had managed to avoid it but it finally caught up with me last week luckily my only symptom was a ‘tickly cough’ and the last day or two been breathless but I haven’t felt unwell, OH has had bad flu like symptoms. Although we are both still testing positive on day 10.
  2. I think it would be ok however the more space you can give them then the happier they will be.
  3. What a little sweetheart fingers crossed it’s a girl. Plum helped so many of us with chicken stuff and set me on the road to trying sewing outside my comfort zone.
  4. I have the mark 1 cube which I believe is bigger than the newer model, I have 6 regular sized hens and 3 bantams. I seem to remember reading when I first got it that it houses 10 chickens. The coop has a 4 metre run however the auto door opens at 7am and closes at 22.30pm and my girls have 3 acres in which to roam free. I live in rural France so we have not been subject to avian flu lockdowns like the UK this year, if we did get a lockdown then I’d just put my coop in our ruin giving them plenty of space to roam around under cover.
  5. I’ve read elsewhere you take the batteries out count to 10 and replace and all should work.
  6. Sadly not collecting eggs @soapdragonbut worming them which was also fun 🤩. I think it was the angle in which I dropped it @Daphne bottom edge hit my toes. @Beantree can I substitute wine for Pastis? Toes are bruised and swollen and a cut on my big toe but I will follow your medical advice to the letter 🥹
  7. The egg port door slipped out of my hand and crash landed on my toes last night and this morning I’m sporting a lovely shade of purple bruising, looks like I’ve possibly broken a couple of toes.
  8. @Daphne a close up of a bee orchid taken this morning.
  9. @Luvachickenmy friends dog has fortiflora prescribed by the vets here and she says it has helped enormously.
  10. Sad news, always came across a a kind caring soul.
  11. @beantree look at this website https://www.economie.gouv.fr/particuliers/prime-renovation-energetique
  12. @Beantree apparently there are a lot of grants available for making homes more eco and economical to run, from January it is all being placed under one hat with dedicated advisors, my friend who is a hand holder has said that she will run us all through the options when published which I will happily share with you. Did you benefit from the €1 insulation the government offered? We have a 11kw pellet burner in the lounge which heats the house 120m but as Daphne says once you turn it off the temperature starts to drop however we did purchase the wifi option which means we can turn the fire on so the house is warm when we get home.
  13. We’ve had meals with friends but only friends that we trust completely. Enjoy your meal.
  14. Had mine last week @Beantreevery well organised and in and out in 20 mins - 15 or those were sitting after the jab. However friends have been struggling to book but I think appointments are becoming more readily available. It is scary that the numbers are rising quickly everywhere.
  15. So jealous of everyone, I loved making and then waiting for my Omlet swap maybe next year. All I have to look forward to parcel wise is a bottle of brake fluid 😂 which should arrive today and no I’m not being lazy ordering for delivery but trying to limit shop visits. Enjoy the swap everyone and I look forward to seeing the makes this year.
  16. @Beantreethe speech was leaked overnight and I took the chance early this morning to book my booster 5 months after my last, managed to get an appointment for the 8th December. Since the speech Doctolib site has crashed with demand, so I am so pleased I took the chance however had it not been announced I would have rescheduled for early January.
  17. For the life of me I can’t remember if Omlet have a January sale does anyone know? I have a friend looking at buying and they have an offer for Black Friday but she has asked if it’s better to wait until the January sales.
  18. It is common in the Mk1 cube. Make sure the cube is absolutely level also there should be rubber grommets in the holes at the end of the roof grooves make sure these aren’t blocked as this allows water to drain.
  19. I would join in if it were a set fee but there is no telling what it could be as it just seems to be plucked out of thin air, I have read that some people are paying in excess of €35 for a parcel which has a declaration for a minimal value but others are paying less for something with a declared value of €100+. I will look forward to seeing everyone’s makes
  20. It’s a nightmare, as you say pot luck on who is checking items coming in. I had to take a delivery for a customer who had ordered an air conditioning unit from the UK and the driver wouldn’t pass it over until I’d paid €265 in customs and taxes. My customer ordered it from the UK as he didn’t speak French and it was easier not sure he’ll be doing that again any time soon.
  21. I would have loved to have joined but delivery companies and La Poste are still charging import duties even if parcels are marked gift or the value is low, it’s a bit hit and miss and not at all consistent. I recently asked Cinnamon where she ordered her wool and she told me to keep my order under a certain amount and you won’t get charged so I did but got hit with customs charges whereas she didn’t so I think it all depends on the delivery company's. Cant wait to look at everyone’s makes.
  22. Salt cod is very popular here, not a fan myself. Fingers crossed Luvvie it’s just a cold. OH was chopping a bush and has been stung under his eye by an Asian Hornet, he looks like I’ve given him a right hook but honest gov I didn’t 😀
  23. Sorry I was out last night getting my fish and chip fix - not usual French cuisine however a small cafe does it once a month locally and we are like moths to a light. So this morning I opened my envelope, inside were 2 beautifully laminated recipes, someone has obviously been spying on me and knows that most of my recipe books also contain remnants of ingredients😂. I have a fruit loaf recipe and a chocolate orange scone one, I’m going to make the fruit loaf later as I have the ingredients however we can’t buy Terry’s chocolate oranges her so will have to look for an orange chocolate substitution which shouldn’t be difficult as the French love sweet foods. Thank you so much and I look forward to baking later.
