  1. Well hello! This is my first topic here, about a debate I really need some advice on. I am a fairly experienced chicken keeper, with a decent knowledge of chicks. I have kept Pekin Bantams for almost 3 years now, and I'm wanting to branch out into breeding them. I have bred before, but only for 'fun'. I'd like to take this a little more seriously. I would probably be focusing on 1-3 colors, and yes, it would probably be pet quality. Quality pet, but not show quality, if you see my point. It wouldn't be massive - I'd only hatch in spring/early summer, hoping for a few clutches each year. I am not worried about losing eggs, we keep a few full size hens for that. I am considering the Eglu Cube. I would begin with 4 hens, plus 1 cock - it would be plenty big. I already have a small cage we currently use for broodies. However, many are telling me things such as: "I highly recommend a shed, not that eglu thingy. Most sheds need bigger window openings on the leeward side, and upper venting in the end wall peaks, all covered with hardware cloth. And a dig proof foundation, either wire or poured concrete. Much more user friendly!" "overpriced little box" "Premade kit coops are generally awful, avoid them! A garden shed, with modifications, works well." As you can see, I am feeling quite doubtful... I would really appreciate any insights. Please bear in mind that one really big 'Pull' factor is anti-red mites. Also - any other advice on breeding Pekins - or chickens in general - would be much appreciated!
  2. I have for sale a Green Omlet Eglu Cube - MK1. Comes with full Leg set which is wheels, the legs and the lifting/lowering bars for the wheels. Still bright green with little to no shading. Collection only from Sheffield - £450 It does have some small areas of damage. This is due to us living next to a stream where there are rats. The damaged areas are SMALL, but there are 3 nibbled areas. NO.1 is to the egg port door vent - small amount of nibbling to the edge of the vent - Image 3. NO.2 is to the back panel - again a tiny amount of nibbling on the back panel - no Image, will upload. NO.3 - is to the base - small area of nibbling to the base piece around one of the holes where a droppings tray fits in - Image 4. No longer needed as doesn't fit with new WIR setup, now have hen house that can be carried instead of wheeled. This is a discontinued MK1 version which can hold 10 standard hens. Dismantled, cleaned and ready for collection. This was for sale last year but had many time wasters. Please only enquire if you are genuinely interested. No more no shows. Please Note: The 3 metre run has now been sold including the 1st Metre which is underneath the Eglu Cube.
  3. Hi I am looking for an eglu cube, hopefully with a 2 or 3 metre run. My eglu classic as got a bit small for my chickens and would love for them to have a bit more room.
  4. I’ve hatched my first ever chicks this year and they are now ready to move into a coop. I’d like an Eglu go up or cube with run and can collect. I’m in Walsall, West Midlands but will travel within reason!
  5. I’m looking for either a cube or Eglu go up, I can collect and I’m willing to travel up to about an hour. I’m in Walsall/ Wolverhampton.
  6. Hi, I’m looking to upgrade my Eglu Go Up to a Cube. Is anyone looking to downgrade and interesting in swapping (I’ll pay a supplement ogbviously!)? Or does anyone have a cube for sale? I’m based near Billingshurst, West Sussex.
