Why do my electrical goods always break down at Christmas?

Recommended Posts

Interesting article here in the Mail today about modern articles always breaking down and today's 'disposable society'. I have to say that I find things have a shorter and shorter life thsse days, and I always try to repair things rather than chucking them out, but it isn't always possible

Jules - good one yer for Freecycling for a new hairdryer - perhaps someone who upgraded at Christmas will have an older one to give you.

Well we thought our DVD player had broken again! This is about the fifth one we've had. After the first couple of more expensive ones broke, I only buy cheap ones now, ie around £20. Would cost more than that to get them fixed, but then what to do with the broken one? I hate just binning things :? We also have five music systems around the house - only two have working CD players.

Oh, re the broken DVD player - diagnosed as broke by OH (an electrician) so unplugged and dumped in the hall for disposal by me. I plugged it in to check no disc in it, lo and behold, not only did it still have a disc in, it did actually work.:roll::lol:
