Small Car recomendations Please

I'm on my second V reg Corsa and love it. But age is begining to tell on this one and after spending a fortune getting it through its MOT, I had more problems and the Vauxhall garage said it would cost either about £120 or £700+ to fix depending on what the problem was but they weren't really sure as computer said NO but for 2 different fault codes. It cost me £70 to just get that information. They advised doing the £120 fix first and then moving on to the £700 option if that didn't work.. The OM, who is not a mechanic did a bit of research on the internet, found that its a common problem with Corsas and nothing to do with the fault codes that the computer came up with, so he bought some other part and fixed it in 10 minutes at a cost of about £40. Its a lot better but still not 100% so not sure yet whether to go and ask for my money back yet. But anyway, love the Corsa but not impressed with Vauxhall or at least not the one I went to.

I used to have a Citroen C3. Great car BUT it kept breaking down. The battery kept going flat, they gave us a new one (it was still under its 3 year warranty) - it turned out to be a fuse box problem, only discovered after twice having to call out the tow truck to get home. The windscreen wiper motor packed up, at only 2 years old. And there were other problems. I might have put it down to bad luck and tried another one, if the woman on the service desk hadn't been so unpleasant. It put me off dealing with Citroen.

Then we bought a Toyota Aygo. It's small but nippy and economical (£35 road tax due to low carbon emissions) and fun to drive. I am always surprised when I see another one on the road because they feel so big on the inside but look so small on the outside. It will take four adults if need be. I'm really pleased so far (after more than a year)

Well my little fiat has been sitting on the drive since Monday evening. Tonight I had to use it to get Jack from the swimming pool (the handbook said the car could still be driven without any power steering). Switched on the engine and the power steering warning light disappeared :? The steering is fine :?

I went to town on the bus today  , £5.40 return  . The journey takes 10 minutes.

Fiat still being replaced in the new year when I can make my mind what to have next.

I've got a Skoda (no laughing, please) Fabia. I have say that's it's never given me a days bother and it's 7 years old. The skoda showrooms/servicing are always pleasant and willing to help too. The only problem is mine's not made of cake!

"Ooops, word censored!"ody laughs at skodas anymore! I can't remember the last time I got a taxi that wasn't a Skoda!

If you drive for a living as taxi drivers do, you need something cheap to run that doesn't break down! that tells a story to me!

I drive a Vauxhall Vectra, its been a great car but I have always wanted a Honda, so when Cathy was due a new car I made her go for a Honda Civic, she is so pleased with it, it is a pleasure to drive and is far more spacious inside than my Vectra, it's like a tardis thing!

I am due a new motor at the event of the next big bill, I fancy a Honda, but the type R sporty version, and then have the LPG conversion done!

Fast cheap and environmentally friendly

The Fiat thing is so true, I was asked my honest opinion on which car to buy,and where from, I answered, it is easier to tell you what not to buy and where not to buy it from.

ie don't buy anything from REG VARDY and don't buy a Fiat unless it's a works van.

She took my advice and bought a FIat Punto from REG VARDY and had two years of hell with it. She is getting tired of the 'Told you so's now'. She now drives a ten year old Honda, still in showroom condition.
