Maisy has been laying softies for a couple of weeks now on an off ... some days two... then days without, then we had an egg which had a hard shell but the membrane was wrapped around the outside.... almost looked like skin. Really wierd!!! Another one for the compost heap!!

 

I'm sure she'll be laying the real thing soon... she gets plenty of limestone flour in her food and is in a huge pen for most of the day. Fingers crossed!

I had one of those from Roast - 3rd egg she laid, found it in the run under the Cube. I thought it was wierd too - seemed like an egg inside an egg

It takes some hens a while to get their laying equipment into gear. Dippy my White Star was a bit like this, but has laid a perfect egg pretty much every day since she settled to it.

I am not the only person on here with a chicken called Dippy.

 

Catscube who hasn't been on for ages also has a White Star called Dippy and I am sure there are others
