From free ranging to extended eglu run?

Recommended Posts

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has done this, and with success, or otherwise?!?!?!

Our two girls generally free range in a fenced off area at the top of our garden, alongside two partitioned bunnies. Unfortunately last night the partition gave way and luckily I caught and separated the fighting bunnies.

The long and short of this is, i feel like making some changes. If the rabbits are 're-segregrated' and I use the other part of fenced area for a much needed veg patch, how do you think the girls would react going into an extended eglu run in our main garden? I could poss let them free range in the eves around our garden.

I would also like them nearer the house and to see more of them as at the moment they are obscured by shrubs, however do not want them to feel deprived....any advice????

That what I was thinking too-purely selfish you see. i would love to see more of them and it seems a shame to have them and the (pink eglu) outta sight.

Just need to carefully introduce them and the dog, although I am fairly confident they will let him know who's boss

I have ordered an extension from the shop and it will be here in a week. I am off with half term now, so this week is a good time to try I think. Fingers crossed, we are a foxy free zone even though we are on the edge of a small rural town. my male dog poss helps. in our old suburban city garden i wouldn't have dreamt of free ranging them..Also I think the extension is prob safer than the fencing option I was looking at in shop too.

Sorry to waffle, just wanna get it right :D

Hi there

We have a home made extension to the eglu and keep the girls in during the day and then let them wander around when we get home and on the weekends. They may cry and complain for a while once they are left in the run, but be patient and they wil be fine, although they will no doubt get excited when they see you out and about.
