Maccbean
I spotted a new gadget called Stirr in the Lakeland brochure yesterday, you can see it herehttp://www.lakeland.co.uk/'stirr'/F/keyword/stirr/product/12301. How useful is that, something that stirs your gravy or sauce for you whilst you get on with something else, and only £14.99. I think I'm going to order one anyway, but does anyone have one? Egluntyne
I can see that this is likely to become an Omlet "must have"
Lesley
Oh No! - I'm not going to look........... ...but I did After reading the reviews I think I'll wait for a while.........I use fairly shallow saucepans for things like sauce, my deep pans are too big
Geoid
I thought up of something similar a few years ago, why didn't I go to the patent office I would of been rich by now.
Maccbean
Oh why didn't you indeed, as I would have just added to your coffers! I bought mine this afternoon. Tried it in my (fairly deep) sauce pan empty and it works fab, we'll have to see what it's like in real action. I'll let you know. Oh and BTW, my hubby is really fussy with bananas over ripening, so I bought one of their new banana bags http://www.lakeland.co.uk/F/keyword/banana+bag/product/12159 as well! A marketing mans dream I am
Lesley
I'm not even going to.........oh! too late!!! I'd like one of those....I hate ripe bananas as well..........
Egluntyne
I make banana loaves with the ones that are a bit past it. That stirry thing might come in handy for lemon curd making!
Maccbean
I make banana loaves with the ones that are a bit past it. Yer but, that then is cake, and cake is a very dangerous thing, likely to be scoffed in one go
Egluntyne
This is true alas.
Maccbean
Right, well at this point in time the jury's out on this one. I made gravy tonight, and admittedly, it wasn't a thin jus, but it was just gravy, and the Stirr stopped stirring ! It definitely couldn't cope with something like a cheese sauce (or do I simply have mine too thick ). I'll give it another go, but it performs like that, it's definitely going back! Jules.
In the film & book "Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets" there is a scene near the beginning where Mrs Weasly is cooking & her wooden spoon is stirring the contents of the sauce pan by itself. I'd buy one of those that she had!
Maccbean
OK, second outing and it failed miserably. I used a sauce pan the same as the kind displayed with the Stirr in the Lakeland shop so there was no excuse. But it left a lumpy patch in the middle of the pan it couldn't get to. sooo disappointing So the Stirr will return to the shop, never to return until they've improved it! Back to the magic wooden spoon then
Egluntyne
Thanks for that....you have just saved me a trip to Manchester! Sorry it doesn't seem to work for you.

Snowy
Just visited this after a marathon lemon curd making session to see if the stir would be worth purchasing Obviously not - saved me some money as well, thanks!
