Yolkless scrambled eggs....!

Recommended Posts

I can see the merits of packs of whites only - if you can't use the yolks for something else, but I think I'd rather skip the omelette rather than lose the flavour. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to omelettes, would rather not have any additions, although I am now moving to "experimenting" with mushrooms, cheese & other veggies - next stop a Spanish omelette!

It amazes me that even the simplest food in the world can have an "easy" option - ie separated white & yolks

Egg white omelets have been the thing for the cholesterol conscious in the States for some time.

I agree with you Wild Mum.

Can't see the point without the yolk.

I even put an egg yolk in my mash potato ... YUM

Mind you, a carton of egg whites would be useful for meringues, pavlovas etc etc

ONLY free range though

I'm sorry but I'm a yolky and Oh is a whitey so we share.... BUT we both preferred boiled rather than omlet...

Yuk - I prefer to have the whites in the meringues. Not fond of scramble, but love fried - eat the white first and if "Ooops, word censored!"ody is watching eat the yolk whole and let the warm runny bit slide down the throat - heaven. Rather piggy, not the done thing in public hence treat for alone time, but it's a shame to waste any yolk that sticks on the plate. :anxious:

Now THAT'S something that really fascinates me: the way people eat their food.

I always sample the potatoes first, then eat everything on the plate evenly BUT save my favourite morsel as my parting mouthful. I know... sad!

My nephew, on the other hand, insists on eating each group of food on its own before moving to the next group ie all the peas, then all the potatoes etc.

How decadent to eat a whole egg yolk in one go (and how delicious!)

I fancy a fried egg now!! I always leave the yolk till last but I usually eat it cut up with toast then use the last piece of bread to mop up the last yolky remanants (have been known to wipe my finger round the plate too - )

I've recently been told that I have very high cholesterol levels. I have to try and reduce them by changing my diet. I am limited to a maximum of 3 eggs per week now  This includes not only whole eggs but part eggs included in recipes. It's a nightmare

There is a very strong genetic link of heart disease in my family which I've only recently been told the full extent of.

Personally I'd rather save my egg allowance and eat a whole egg rather than an yolkless omlette but I can understand some people turning to while only dishes.
