Egzandra
My daughter plays the saxaphone and for her birthday party, which is this Saturday, she has asked me to make a saxaphone cake. I have already made a 10" square madeira which is in the oven, and am making the second madeira this afternoon. Even with 20" x 10" the sax will have to be out of proportion and I wonder if anyone here has any ideas of what I could do to make it look good? These daughters, eh. She would not have a clock cake or a house cake, which are my old stand bys!
Guest
Oh if only I knew where the pictures were. I had a sax cake made for my 21st! I remember she had made part of it (round and tapering) in a cheese grater. It was a lovely cake I think - can't remember entirely as it was one of those parties where copious amounts of alchol was consumed and may have necessitated a trip to casualty after I fell of some 6" heels then carried on to someone's 40th whilst my ankle grew larger than my knee and I couldn't walk
Lesley
I just googled for saxaphone cakes - there are quite a few that you could look at. I liked this one..... http://www.thecakestore.co.uk/acatalog/Saxaphone.html
Egzandra
Thank you for your replies and the link! That's food for thought. I have made the basic cakes now. My son says he will have a look at the picture on the internet and see if he can come up with a template during the day, as he is not at work today.
