Look what I found in my garden! A CHICKEN!

Recommended Posts

Wow Tom that is brilliant news! A blue red araucana - how cool! I used to have a gold duckwing araucana (and she was called Fizz too!)

As others have said, just take it slow with introductions, make sure they can see each other and when you do mix them, do it when they are freeranging so she has space to get away. I found araucanas can be quite timid in the flock and are easily bullied, but they are very friendly - mine loved a cuddle! 8)

she is beautiful and i love our araucana, verrrrrry posh and snooty though.

You are so lucky.... OH would never let me have any more at the moment, but perhaps if one just appeared like that, how could he say no!!!

You are soooooooo lucky i'm glad she said you could keep her :) cause she is a beauty.

My only advice is take it much slower than you would if you were intergrating two. I've been intergrating an ex bate who was rehomed and then had her mate attacked by a fox and was being taunted by one so i said i'd take her. It's taken nearly two months of freeranging together to get her in and sleeping with the others but i would really recomend taking the time because they all gang up on just the one and it's horrid. For Fizz it's probably worth putting their sleeping section close enough together she can hear the chatter. They seem to talk alot when they are settling down for bed and hearing this for my loner atleast seemed to cheer her up.
