Hemcore versus grass - a revelation!

Recommended Posts

mine are now on easibed as they destroyed the grass so quickly and they do lots and lots of digging in the easibed, which I kinda think keeps them occupied, so they actually have more fun now.

(its very funny to see them all line up to dig a hole, and then all examine it together. they look very similar to workmen :D )

After my girls being on the brand new turf for a total of 4 1/2 days, there was so much flattened poo I've moved the whole eglu & run onto the patio  . And that's after raking it up twice too  .

Can't wait till I get my walk in run and can go back to Hemcore :? . (It's coming a week on Friday, if you're interested  .)

I got 3 chickens, and as long as i only leave them on one spot for 4 days the poo isn't to bad and rakes up easy. if i leave it 7 days we are left with a brown patch the same shape as run.

I want a walk in run to, lucky you.

Well it sounds great but i drove around for 2 days in the last school holiday trying to get it from a local supplier, with no luck. Doesn't any one who lives near me use it ?

I only managed to get 'equisorb' (?) from the Hungry Horse near Earlswood/Shirley but is good stuff - i asked for hemcore and thats what she recommened. Take your purse though (or better still someone elses) as there are lots of little chicken extras to buy !!! :D

i have 3 horses and love hemcore find it better than aubiose(which tends to be slightly smaller chippings) ....No i dont wet it at all as it gets wet by them but i know they recommend it...i suppose if someone has a horse with respiratory problems perhaps advisable then..

Hemcore is less dusty than wood shavings and baled equestrian wood shavings is another good buy as they are usually dust extracted & quite chunky.

I was given some big huge bags of shavings by a saw mill once its v cheap but as its so fine it got wet so quickly...so very false economy

Love hemcore still how sad!....
