Gruffalo
I'm a bit concerned about one of my hens. She seems to have stopped laying and she is only about 9 months old. I don't think she has laid anything for about a month although it is hard to tell. We only ever get one egg a day even though we have the two chickens. She seems much bigger and fatter than Daisy our other chicken, but 90% of the time she seems perfectly normal and fine. I have noticed though that she has stopped crouching when you try to pick her up and sometimes I find her sitting in the garden with her eyes closed, but 10 minutes later she's back foraging around again. Could there be something wrong with her? and is there anything I can do? Thanks
Hen Watch
Maybe she is hunched and laying softie eggs (and eating them before you realise). In that case maybe some Limestone Flour (extra calcium) in their feed might help. I had similar egg drop off when I'd had my chooks for 10 months. Turned out to be worms (as I'd never wormed them till then). Used Flubenvet wormer and egg laying came back. Or is she ill? Is she eating/drinking? Gruffalo
I'm pretty sure she's not laying softies as we had big problems with Daisy our other chicken doing that and they now have oystershell and limestone flour, also apart from occasionally sitting down and snoozing she seems completely fine. Definitely not off her food, she is very greedy and would eat anything you give her! Worming seems like a possibility, as we haven't wormed them yet. Is flubinet the thing to get? Love this forum thanks for the help again!
Gamebird
I would say most people on this forum use Flubenvet for worms. Click here for more information.
