girlsmum
One of my friends chickens has a bad leg and limps. She is not in any pain and gets around ok just slower than the others. They just accept her and dont pick on her. Girlsmum
jos
I have an ex batt collected 2 weeks ago who has a marked limp but gets about ok and doesn't seem to concerned about it. I also have a speckledy, who is 2 1/2 years old and has very poor eyesight but she also manages very well. I have to make sure she gets enough treats because she eats more slowly than the others simple because she cannot see the food so well, so meal worms etc are fed to her seperately, but, other than that, she manages really well. Guest
hiya, yes my little Bea is disabled. She has something akin to arthritis/gout and one leg is useless and the other is swollen but she managed to hop about. We do keep her seperate though, she has 2 bantams for company. If you can get cherries then they're good for bad joints. Lidl do big jars full of cherries for 99p, just rinse the syrup off and give her 3 or 4 a week perhaps? you could always ask Buffie if she has any recommendations for homeopathic chicken remedies. sandyhas3chucks
thanks Poet. As she hasn't been seen by a vet and 2 of the others look like they might have leg mites and one of those sounds like an asthmatic, I am going to the vet with all 4 new girls. to be on the safer side! bit fed up. but if I am worrying over nothing so what.... after my recent experiences I am a bit passed worrying about seeming paranoid.!
