Rozandewan
I have seen a poo in my field and I am trying to identify who/what might have left it there! It is very dark, like a dark grey/black colour and look a bit like molten tar. It is probably the size of a medium dog poo, left on top of a taller clump of grass in the field. I know it is a bit gross (photos of poo - lovely!) but if anyone could help identify them I would be very grateful.
Egluntyne
Well you did ask! It often has pips and seeds and bits of fur in it, and has an intruiguing little twist at one end......and stinks to high heaven.
Rozandewan
Thanks, but it didn't look like that. Could it be badger?
Guest
Agree with Eglutine re the pips but it can be black or grey tarry and even have a touch of fur in it at times..& if you run it over ie with a lawn mower it really does stink Yep small/ medium size dog poo sounds very much like a fox from your description indie
sandyhas3chucks
it can often be a lot wetter than that... depends too what they are eating... re the colour as people feed them all sorts. the smell is quite distinctive sort of acrid.never seen or knowingly smelt badger but have been told I would know as apparently it smells unbelievable! Budgies
The poop you found does sound like fox poo. It can have a tarry, greasy quality to it (yum!!) and smells rough. We've had foxes leave their calling card directly next to the chicken run - and a subsequent check on our CCTV camera revealed Mr Fox standing on the Omlet run, trying to get at my girls!!
