House Hunting/split due to family Tragedy

Recommended Posts

....no, can't find a smiley for KUTB......you've been so strong, you need to take some time-out for youwhere you don't have to think about anyone else...easy for me to say, I know........I sometimes find that if I'm in a state, either walking for miles with just my dogs for company or digging a huge hole (preferably with something nice or useful to put in it at the end, not just digging :anxious: !), something physical helps if I need "sorting out".

Daft as it may sound, I also find writing my thoughts & feelings down is very therapeutic especially if I'm tearful, I've never been one to write a diary, but how about writing to Tom...obviously he won't be able to read it now, but it may help you in the short term.

In the meantime another {diddy hug} is winging it's way to you

You don't need a kick up the backside, you need to let it out. You've been being strong for weeks and it's catching up with you. So cry, let it out, don't keep bottling it up. And some sort of physical activity to take it ut on is a good idea, especially walking as it gives you thinking time too.

So no hugs today, but a great big hanky instead.

Thanks all hugs welcome.

I haven't been to see Tom today because it isn't my turn but I got to see him yesterday. He isn't too well. He has an infection (did I tell you already? I'm losing my marbles!). They don't know if it is chest or urine but they are treating him with double antibiotics to combat either. His heart is also working overtime despite the fact he is on beta blockers. Poor Tom is having such a rough time. There are 2 other people on the stroke ward that have traumatic brain injury but both of them are beginning to recover and are able to eat small amounts now. One had his accident 8 days before Tom and the other a month after. Both were given similar prognosis to Tom. It breaks my heart because we all so desperately want Tom to beat the odds too. Sorry, I'm moaning again.

Shirl you are not moaning, just sharing your thoughts and worries. You can do that anytime here :D

Tom will recover in his own time. It must be very hard to see those around him progressing a little quicker than he is but everyone is an individual and as mentioned previously Tom obviously likes the scenic route.

More hugs - big bear ones! :D

A lovely Omletter pm'd me and asked i there was an update on Tom's condition so I thought I'd update everyone.

It's been 7 1/2 months since Tom's ruptured aneurysm. We have really been through the mill in that time. On October 27th Tom moved from hospital to a specialst neuro nursing home. There has been no improvement in Tom's condition. We still don't know how much awareness Tom has. He doesn't seem to respond to us at all. He still has a trache but we have been told there is no reason that in the future he might cope without it.

Tom has suferred terribly over the last 7 months. He has had numerous chest and urine infections. He has been constipated so badly that he has vomited faeces. He has had a blocked catheter so often they had to remove it. I am at the point that I am wishing my brother would die. I know that seems a horrible thing to write but he suffers so much and has no quality of life. I know he would not want to live like this and he is in pain every day.

I don't know if people heard about this case but I really understand how the mother felt. It also happens to be the place where Tom has been moved to. http://www.hertsandessexobserver.co.uk/hertsandessexobserver/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=475266
