Midlands - Kill, Pluck, and Gut Course at Cotswold Chickens

Recommended Posts

I hope you get a few more people to join you at the last minute. I did the course in Sheffield. If anybody is waivering, it is very professional and much easier to learn these things in the company of other omleteers.

Hopefully, I know some people don't venture into SS but might notice it in the get togethers section :D

Right - we've been and checked out the Falkland Arms, my son came with us and kept quoting from the League of Gentlemen :lol:

It is a nice pub but the food is somewhat expensive and they don't do chips - better suited for an evening out?

The info for the Masons indicates it might be even more of a gastro pub than the Falkland so perhaps not what we're looking for?

I don't know who is coming to the pub and at what times but if I'm going at lunchtime then I do like a sandwich and chips! :D If people are going to be there later on then that doesn't matter so much.

There is a pub nearby in Hook Norton which may be more suitable?

The Pear Tree - Clare has been there with us before.......

Any ideas? - anyone coming?

I've just had a flash of insperation  That doesn't happen very often  My Gran had a family "do" earlier on in the year and we went to The Horse and Groom at Milcombe. It's a nice pub and the food is good to. I'm not sure if they are open all day, is the Pear Tree? so not sure how suitable it would be. I can find out more if you want me to as it's one of the pubs Dad supplies with wine  and he has known Richard and Rachel the owners for years.

Sorry for the late reply; only just got back from Devon.

The Falkland Arms doss bar food - snacks and that sort of stuff, or at least it did a fortnight ago! Not been to the Mason's recently, but it has had an overhaul. Did used to do snacks, but all that may have changed if they've 'got smart'

Red Lion in Bloxham is good fro food, as is the Joiners Arms (or is it Weavers Arms?) in Bloxham and both of those are nearer.

I won't be able to make it until the end of the day though. I know that Jude wanted to come along too.

The Falkland does do light meals - £5.95 fot a baguette.

I wouldn't think that people on the early couses will want to hang around until all courses have finished will they?

The Horse and Groom at Milcombe has plenty of parking, that's all I know as we've driven past. I thought of the Pear Tree because it sells Carl's favourite beer :D - and the Brewery and Brewery shop are just up the road :D I'm sure he'll cope wherever we go.

Mum and Dad are due back from hols tomorrow. I'll contact them tomorrow and get some more details re Milcombe. I'm sure their prices are reasonable to. So are we looking at an early evening timeslot for most and possibly luchtime for some?

Yes, it looks like an early evening timeslot for most - perhaps we need to get some confirmed numbers?
