Lightning doesn't strike...............

in the same place twice, unless you are me it seems

Last week a full bottle of Gin fell out of a hole in the bottom of my Tescos carrier & smashed all over the kitchen floor. I got a refund, but no apology.

Today the exact same thing happened with a bottle of white wine in their car park. It went everywhere, & I got a nasty bit of glass stuck between my toes which is very sore.

It was so annoying. I shouted to the trolley boy for help, but he has an i-pod on & couldn't hear me (I ask you, an i-pod on a job where hearing the traffic is a distinct advantage!)

So I hobbled & bled my way to the customer service desk, where they got another bottle for me. I asked for a tissue or something to clean myself up a bit, but all they had were computer screen wipes

By this time I was getting hot & cross, so I insisted on seeing a first aider. She came 10mins late, with no kit & took another 5 to return to me with antiseptic wipes & so forth. There was blood all over the place by then.

Got sorted, went back out to the car to find the smashed bottle still behind the car  , so stormed back & shouted for them to clear it up NOW!!!

I filled in an injured persons form & phoned head office when I got home, so will let you know what come of it all.

Methinks they may have a dodgy batch of carriers in Tesco Henley - I only used one each time because I had forgotten Trolley Dolly

Shame there were no rowers in the car park to help me out in my time of need 8)

Oh & to make matters even worse, I was there for the second time that morning as the first time I had forgotten my purse :lol:

Ouch! Hope it isn't too sore. Good for you for complaining, surely when a First Aider is called for, they should have the kit on hand anyway ... and as for the trolley collector wearing an iPod, I'm amazed he's allowed to do that! Perhaps he isn't supposed to.

I worked in a supermarket many years ago, well it was while I was at school which is, sadly, a lifetime ago now. In those days ALL staff even shelf-stackers had to wear a skirt (ladies) or a shirt and tie (men), and woe betie you if you were seen sneaking off, slacking or chatting to a mate.

A full bottle of gin ... I'd have been on the floor with a straw!

Our neighbour took her mum to Tesco's today, her mum had a bit of a turn and had to sit down behind the tills, but was unable to get to her feet. Normally there is a manager there that is very nice and helps, but today he was away. So Dee can't lift her mum because of a botty op, but she stabilised the trolley so that her mum could lift herself up with her walking stick and holding onto the trolley. Other staff could see that they were having a bit of trouble and watching them, but then turned their backs. What a pity - I know they could have asked for help, and the staff could have offered but by that time Dee was feeling the heat so to say and wanted to get out quickly and never darken the doorstep again! I only shop there on odd occasions (it's the big one in Camberley - the little one in Hook is completely rubbish), but usually go to Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

Hope your footsie heals up quickly.

Hmm I've lost wine to a dodgy carrier bag before, quite spectacular in front of lots of people getting off the tram

They asked if I was alright but I was just concerned about my lost bottle. I'm now extra careful about how I carry bottles as don't trust the bags. Not that I drink very often now :?

It doesn't surprise me what Tesco were like  I did once see a woman passed out in Morrisons, then a lad had also collapsed because there was some blood, (it is so hot I feel faint sometimes) it was carnage but the staff seemed to be coping OK.

You'd think in your case they'd be concerned about the blood everywhere :? Ipod boy doesn't sound good either

oooh sorry to hear that, I hope your toe is not too sore. I have done exactly the same thing with a bottle of coke it dropped through landed on my gravel driveway and showered me with coke from the pierced hole!

The carrier bags are definately thinner, although I now use my trustly hessian type ones. But if needs must and I run out of bags I will use one of their stupid carrier bags, but they look at you as if you;ve asked them to give you their first born child!

Sorry to hear about your accident Cinnamon.

This sounds like a dangerous occurrence, and with the accident happening on their (Tesco's) property, I'd imagine the Health and Safety Executive would be interested in your case as your injury now seems worse than expected. As you reported the incident when it happened you have a very strong case against Tesco for issuing bags not fit for purpose.

I suspect that the bags have been in storage for too long and are starting to de-compose

I've had problems with bags of sugar dropping through Tesco bags, so now I always have an 'Onya' bag in my pocket.

Good luck and I hope your foot starts to heal soon.

Christine

Hi Cinnamon, sorry to hear about your misfortune at Tescos  , and I hope your foot is healing.

Although, as there is a theme developing, I think now is a good time to place bets for week 3, can I be the first one to bet please. As you are having cooling drinks, I place my bet on Bacardi as lots of nice summer cocktails start with a white rum base :D
