Settie
Hi, Today I discovered that my rosecomb bantam Amy was broody. I only have two rosecomb bantams her and a cockerel and they are always together. I put some fertile eggs down for her to sit on, and I made an enclosure for her and the cockerel. I did this because where she was was all the hens favourite place to lay, so they were pushing her of the nest. Should I take the cockerel out a couple of days before the chicks are due? Lewis
Yep She'll be best on her own looking after the chicks, and the cockerel could attack the chicks. She may be best on her own now, but if not, definately 3 day before they're due .
Settie
When I went down to my broody this morning and found she was not sitting I put her back on the eggs just in case. She only got the eggs yesterday morning and she sat on them all of yesterday. When I felt the eggs they were cold! Any chance of them ? Egluntyne
Was she not just taking a comfort break do you think? I'd leave things alone and disturb her minimally, if at all, for a few days and see what happens.
