I am going to have a go at making Faggots!!!

Recommended Posts

Oh man! Yesterday at work, my mate was making my mouth water describing these faggots he made at the weekend with beer in the gravy.

I don't know anything about cooking and am not even any use at warming things up, however after reading "Bad Food Britain" (which is highly recommended) and listening to my mate, I am feeling inspired to cook something from scratch!!!

Check out p18 on the attached link for the faggots recipe.

http://beefyandlamby.co.uk/pdf/Tuck-in_10.pdf

I will take photos on Saturday (when I prepare this for the family) and let you know how I get on. 8):lol:

I am very excited!

PS

Have been dieting for two weeks (having a weight loss competition with that same mate from work so the recipe thing could be him trying to sabotage me). Anyway, I have lost 3lbs which I am quite pleased about! :D

Just shown this to Him Indoors.

Am under starters orders to make this later this week.

Lovely recipes on site.

Just shown this to my OH - he's under orders to make them at the weekend! :wink: Actually, he was wanting to make some so thanks for the link Dan.

Congratulations on the weight loss - just don't eat too many faggots :wink:

Well done Dan!!!! :clap::clap::clap:

Always think about the weight loss in packs of butter!!! That is my trick, so when you have been really 'good' all week and then lose 1/2 pound and feel bad, think of butter!!!!!

(is this making sense) :shock: ??

Keep up the good work!

Looking at packs of lard at the supermarket helps as well - just one 250g pack makes you think.......

Thinking about butter makes me hungry :?:oops:

Wow. . yum, how delicious - makes my mouth water! And the recipes look good too! (No, Sarah, bad girl :twisted::twisted: )

I showed my American husband the photo of the faggots - describing them as 'meatballs in gravy' . He enjoys all the cross-cultural linguistic slips I make - but my 4-yr old daughter might generate some odd looks at pre-school - "we had faggots for dinner last night, Miss"! :lol::lol::lol:

BTW, although I love faggots (& plan to make the recipe) I have a vivid faggot-related memory to share with you.

Years ago, I got home late from the theatre, starving hungry. Only thing in the larder was a can of faggots. Opened the can, dumped in a saucepan . . . & threw up!

The show I went to see? . . . Sweeney Todd. :vom::vom::vom:

Thanks Dan that looks like a lovely recipe and by chance I have all the ingredients in the house right now..... so guess what I'm going to cook tomorrow :wink: (I had been wondering what to cook with my leftover lambs kidney currently languishing in the freezer- I bought too many for Sunday's lamb hotpot :oops: )

Mind the food wasn't the only thing that was tasty in that leaflet. Firemen always get my taste buds going :oops::roll::roll::wink:

Ali, I'm being fairly pathetic here, but somehow my computer won't let me cut and paste the recipe and it's a bit of a long one to type out, especially because it's on a very pretty photographic background which I'm really reluctant to print out... it'd use masses of ink :roll:

Maybe someone else can figure out how to cut and paste, or I'm more than willing to email it to you, if that'd make any difference :? If you want PM me your email address and I can try.

Sorry to be so technologically useless :oops::oops:

Can someone please post the recipe :D

My PC doesn't like pdf files :(

I love faggots. Can anyone remember Brains Faggots....yummmm :D

Don't worry - on Saturday my alter ego; Jamie Ramsay* will be posting pics and the full recipe on this thread! :wink:

* Actually, I may decide to be Gordon Oliver (It sounds a little more masculine)!

I think I will have to impose a 'clean up your own mess' rule Clare:wink:

I must admit Dan is very helpful around the house, not sure how he will feel after cooking his first 'proper meal' and then being faced with a mountain of washing up.

I think we may be getting a dish-washer after this (hopefully) Although I don't think we could get one in our kitchen now :(
