Does anyone know what age bantams can roost on the roosting bars in the eglu? Mine are about 7 weeks old and currently sleep in nest box with Broody but I understand this is a 'bad habit'! On the other hand I read somewhere that perching too early was also bad for their feet or chests or something...

I let mine start perching from 10-12 weeks.

When I brought my light sussex chicks home at 5 weeks old I took the bars out, & they roosted around the edge of the nest box instead

I put the bars in the next night.

They had actually had a roosting bar in the brooder from about 3 weeks old.

I don't know anything about this causing breathing problems Hope we did the right thing.....

Thanks, have put the bars back in but they're ignoring them so far...
