Ziggy
Oh dear that's always a scary moment... don't panic, at least you know where it is... is there any treats that he/she loves that might bribe it back out? Depending on what cage you have, could you move it to the floor near the freezer, and hope it will go in? I once got a pet mouse back, she had escaped, so I left her cage door open and she moved back in!! Your hamster should hopefully go hungry at some point, so leaving the cage (or any box, easy container) open on the floor, easy to get into, with some food and bedding, might lure it back in, but check very regularly so you can catch it when it's in, before it has time to move out again... Keep us posted...
Chucky Mama
Oh dear, I too would advise putting an open cage near and a small trail of treats. Be really careful if you decide to try and move the freezer at all as you could injure her.
rachelk
My daughter left her hamster cage open all weekend just a week after she got him!! Was I ever cross when we came back after an overnight stay to find him gone!!!!! Anyway, we managed to catch him from up the side of the wardrobe, but afterwards we read in her hamster care book that you should do the following to capture an escaped hamster - Take a bucket, and build a pile of books up next to it for use as a ladder. Put a trail of treats up the 'ladder', and some at the bottom of the bucket. The idea is that the hamster will go down into the bucket, and then can't get out again. Don't know if it will work, but might be worth a try, Good luck!!
Lewis
I was going to suggest the bucket idea aswell - might be worth sitting in the kitchen in the dark with a torch and see if you can hear her as she might be a bit more active at night. Nutmeg
Oh dear, sorry to hear about the escapee. The bucket idea is good, would also suggest that you block any gaps/holes around the room as they can squeeze through the tiniest of spaces. Hope you soon find her. Chucky Mama
Any news pancake? If she is still there don't forget to leave some water down for her as they can get poorly quite quickly without water.
