Jools
I must admit that I've been thinking about the animal casualties and I'm sure there must have been many considering the speed the rivers rose and burst their banks.

Lewis
I was also wandering what would happen, a local farmer has been fined/jailed because he let his sheep drown, not too sure about the story, just spotted it on the front of the paper. Such a shame and as it happens so fast there's little you can do

docsquid
Thank you, I'll pass it on! The water came up too quickly to do anything about it. The farmer in Hopwas who was jailed was a different story - he repeatedly grazed his sheep on an area that floods annually (not just with exceptional rainfall) at a time of year when floods are usual. There are several areas like this near Tamworth that flood every year. He was warned repeatedly not to put his animals at risk but ignored the warning, and I believe this was not the first incident where his animals had drowned or had to be rescued. Dappy Chick
That is horrid news - how sad I don't think you realise just how bad it is until you know someone who is going through it (even though we see in on the tv)
The Dogmother
That's terrible. I remember young Martin putting his eglu on top of their shed when Alcester was hit by bad flooding a couple of years back.
