docsquid
So, I read this forum and all the books. I learn the importance of keeping everything clean. I religiously clean out the bedding, poo-pick the run and clean the poo trays in the Cube every day. I make sure they don't eat mouldy or mucky food. And what do they do? Yes, they've found the compost heap, and have dug themselves a huge hole in the old bedding! You can hardly see Gwennie in the second picture - just the tip of her tail. skye
Ha haaa! I love those naughty girls! My Lily did the same the other day - I think in a bid to avoid walking on the snow - flew up on top of our compost heap and started digging furiously too! Thanks for the pics, really made me smile skye x

Patricia W
Mine love the compost heap! I now have two- one for them to dig in and throw things out, and the second one, which is the current one. That has a lid so I can keep them out! We've got two as well - the one in front that you can't see in these pictures is the one that we are currently putting onto the flower beds (and that the chickens are removing, obviously!), the one they are on is the one we are filling up. We are planning to move some of the compost to our wildlife site to limit the chicken digging possibilities. I think they like tea bags - they've unearthed one in the photos that I didn't notice. docsquid
No pics this time, but Gwennie decided to dig a nice new mud bath today under our loganberry bushes. The only problem is... ..that is where we buried the cat! Literally. It is where our cat Sprocket, who died in 2006, is buried. I think I need DH to find a slab and cover it up when he gets home They have almost the whole garden to dig up and they choose that spot. I was thinking of getting them to help with tree planting in the New Year, given that they are so good at digging...
