Gelbel
When I had to go into the office yesterday (of all days I have to venture ou; it's the day with the most snow for years and years ), my DH cleared a walkway from the backdoor to the run so the snow does not go over my boots. So guess who decided to escape while my back was turned to have a peck at the solid grass as they have not moved nattering on their perch as the snow is up past their feathery knickers? You've got it! But herding them back - my black beauty Joy did the most wonderful, full on squat - her first. Earlier this morning she was showing a bit of interest in the nest - which she has never done before. I am so happy She's put on a shed load of weight these past few weeks and her tiny comb has reddened slightly - so how long before I have what I know will be the bestest eggs ever? I know I could search - but I am so giddy about my little girl finally growing up. Edited January 12, 2010 by Guest

chickenNutter
Yes I would say about a week to ten days. I noticed my Welsummer Ruby aged 38 weeks doing a full squat just over a week ago, and I found a full size egg this morning! Just Mabel the Frizzle to go now! Today was my first 2 egg day! Whoopee! It is so exciting!

The Dogmother
Usually about a week, may be more though as there's less daylight at this time of year. Don't forget to do the egg dance when one arrives

docsquid
It took Blodwyn about 10 days, the other two about a week from squatting to laying. So you should be lucky, fingers crossed.

Gelbel
It gets better! Joy was very vocal and aggitated this morning when I was cleaning them out. She was also taking much more interest in the nest box than ever. Just popped out now (as there is a bit of bullying from Grace) and Joy is sat all nice and quiet on the nest. Oooohhhh not long now. Gelbel
She's done it. A whalloping 75g - slight peck of blood on the shell but all seems well and I'll keep an eye on her. No major announcement but they all 'took' me to their house when I popped out once I saw Joy in the run.
