Bumper bit in but still feather pulling

Recommended Posts

Grace was being a right madam a few weeks ago so I bumper bit her a few weeks ago as poor Rita was quite bare chested - and in all that snow too.

Rita's feathers are growing back nicely. Well they were until I saw Grace has learnt that if she can stand and twist at a strange angle she can still manage to pull a few chest feathers out.

Interestingly it's not done in the same viscious manner as before (she can get a right old evil look on her face - honest) but she is still not playing nice.

I am going to dig the antipeck spray out but I feel sorry for Rita then if she wants a preen.

Any ideas?

If she does this in front of me, she will get a squirt of water. But I don't really want to separate her as it makes her madder. All threats of going in the pot have not worked either.

i thought it was just my chooks that still did it with the bumper's on :!: i've given up now as nothing is working, the spray deters them for about 5 mins and the bumper bits don't stop them :( Ebony is now wearing a saddle to protect her bald back so they are now pulling her leg and bottome feathers out  poor scarlets bottom is completely bald and red. i was considering getting some more girls this year but to be honest this has put me off.
