ladyjulian
We were getting a dozen eggs a week from our four quail hens and they have suddenly gone on strike. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
Lesley
Late moult? - scared by rats? Ours have just stated again after the winter.
ladyjulian
Not moulting but they could be scared - I chased away our neighbours' giant marmalade cat which was sitting watching them like an episode of Eastenders the other morning. They're completely safe but I guess they don't know that. Maybe I'll put a fence up tomorrow to discourage the cat.
Lewis
Could be the cat or something to do with the weather. Have they been wormed - I used flubenvet when I did the chickens, but think there is dosing for game birds on the pot - weren't laying so didn't have to worry about eggs. Willow
Mine started laying for a couple of week then abruptly stopped so I think this is normal. I used to find my quail weren't worried by the cats laying outside their enclosure but they went crazy when a badger sniffed around one night.
