honorandkit
I am beyond excited! I let the girls out as normal this morning, but Gretel didn't come out of the house. My first thought was panic...she's always keen for breakfast, so I instinctively thought something was wrong. A quick peek in the house, and she was standing in the nesting box, clearing out the stray feathers. I went back inside to make our morning cuppa, checked on her again about 2o minutes later and there it was. Small (30g) but perfectly formed! We've had the girls 6 weeks tomorrow, and they came to us at about 13 weeks. Typically, we're going away for the weekend tonight...so our neighbour will have the joy of the second egg. Isabel
Good for Gretel - isn't it really exciting. Our Orp started to lay this week - 4 eggs in 4 days which is, I think, pretty good. I keep catching her in the nesting box so have to close it up and leave her to get on with it.
