meezers
I collected my Auracana from Wernlas today. She is supposed to replace Dilbert- but Dilbert is still here, well he isn't crowing yet, so I've got a little longer to try and rehome him. I spent the morning re arranging the runs so that the auracana could go in a sectioned off bit next to Muppet and the chicks ( now 15wks old ), I put delilah in with her for company, and then had to add Muppet as Delilah was trying to climb through the partion to get back to Muppet, Dandelion and Dilbert - a great lump of faverolle trying to squeeze herself through a 3 inch gap With Muppet in with her they settled down and completely ignored the auracana , who meanwhile was pacing around the run looking for a way out. She explored all options - perched on top of the drinker, tried to get in with the big girls and when she flew up ontop of the partition I gave up and took it down so Dilbert and Dandelion could come say hello. There were a few half hearted pecks but they mostly ignored her. She did try going to bed on top of the coop- thank goodness I have a roof on the run - none of the other chooks have managed to get that high before (5ft). They are all tucked up in the coop now - the auracana snuggled up next to Muppet, she's lovely , but I think she's going to be trouble We are trying to decide on a name - suggestions so far are Dotty, Dizzy , Daisy and Doodle. Will try to post some photos tomorrow. Edited September 6, 2010 by Guest

meezers
Well, here she is with hours to spare ! I took down part of the partition so that she is in with Muppet and the (15wk old) chicks, but they seem to have come to an arrangement where she is on one side while they are on the other. There's a bit of a panic when they happen to pass each other on their way from one side to the other, but the auracana ( as yet un named) can get quite a bit higher off the ground than the others, so gets out of their way easily enough. She's actually 2 weeks older than them ( 17wks) but is about the same size as Muppet. sparkysmum
Hi, Our araucana is called Pompom, but is now simply Pom, due to her haircut.
Mercedes55
I do love the Araucanas Ours is called Lavender, not very original but as we already have 4 ex batts who we gave our favourite names to we had to think of another 4 names very quickly
