Trish
I think I've just posted a picture of myself and me with my lowest whistle in my album. The album is still untitled but is currently the third alnum across on the first page. Hope I don't scare anyone
Nicola H
Trish that is a big one you must need a lot of puff is there a technique to playing it. Glad you decided to join the rogues gallery good to see who we are talking to......... see you are getting the hang of putting pics on. Mrs Frugal
Well done, Trish! Great photos - now we know who we're talking to. Many thanks - especially for enlightening us on low whistles! I had no idea what they were!
Trish
Hi Nicola, the technique for playing is very similar to that for an ordinary Penny whistle. Gentle blowing gets you low notes and over blowing or harder, gets the high notes. It easy to hyperventilate at first with the low whistles but you get used to it after a while and things settle down The hardest bit is fingering, your fingers are soo far apart and at various points when you change notes your supposed to do little wobbles above and below the note as ornimentation. My fingers really hurt at first but you should see how wide I can stretch my hand now

Nicola H
Gosh Trish sounds like you need a lot of patience and practice. the recorder is easier I have started to play again with Emily and we are really enjoying it................ Lesley
You're lucky then - I just look horrible all the time
Trish
I know how you feel as soon as I see a camera the only facial expression I seem able to do is a gormless smile which I think looks nothing like me
Louise
Boy am I glad its not just me I look so false and horrid. We had new pics at work for our security passes and mine was so awful I made the security guy cut my old one out and relaminate it as I refused to walk around with the new one
Mrs Frugal
You're not alone. I take a dreadful photo. I always look grey - and that's in a colour photo!! I'd rather be behind the lens than in front!
Lesley
I gain an extra chin as soon as a camera appears and I've got enough already
