I can go through to Glasgow to the office and sit to wait for one so long as I have pictures and a complete form and my old passport oh and an extra large fee

I am waiting till my dad calls tonight to decide :?

I would rather she came home and then came down to me as there is no way he can take care of her she will have to learn things again and he has no patience and he would still expect too much of her

Louise I am so sorry to hear the news what a worrying time for you, but like lesley says at least she got a scan straight a way and now knows what is causing her problems, you will feel better once she gets back into the country and you can take care of her...........

Oh Louise, I am so sorry to hear that, you must be devastated. Your poor mum must feel confused and worried, but at least she's with her sister, who sounds capable, but I know how you feel, and you'll be happier when she's with you at home.

At least if you Dad goes out there, she will have someone to bring her home.

 Poor things! You must be feeling awful!. I am sure she is in very capable hands: You flying out there might only add to the confusion. Best stay at home and get things ready for when they get her home.

((((BIG HUGS))))) being sent your way.

Thanks everyone I am feeling a little better and hopefully the news tonight will be a little more positive when we get results of the various tests :(

I am just worried that this went on for about 10 days so goodness knows what additional damage may have been done

There were no muscle problems which I suppose are the classic symptoms

Doctor should still have thought of it though :evil::evil:

Louise that is horrible news and must have been a terrible shock for you when you had been thinking the symptoms were drug effects. I am really sorry. Please keep us posted with how things are going. I will be thinking of you and your parents and hoping for a good recovery.

Louise, sorry to hear about your mum, hope she recovers quickly. If you need to come up to Glasgow for a passport and I can help in any way, just give me a shout e.g. drop the car at mine and get the train into city centre, that kind of thing (parking at the Passport Office is a nightmare!)

Thanks for that offer Fee I'll bear it in mind

I am hoping I won't have to go out there fingers crossed she is okay to travel in a few days and can come home :?

The one thing this has reminded me is how stupid I was to let my passport run out

Louise, I am so sorry for what's happened to your Mum, but hope it's good news that she can come home in the next few days.

I've only just caught up with this thread and had just got the phone next to me to call Joe as I read through the topic.

It would have been really hard to have noticed the symptoms as like you said, the muscle bit wasn't there - it's just incredibly bad timing that she had started a new drug and this masked the symptoms she did have.

Big hug coming your way from me too

Hello Louise, only just read this thread. Very sorry to hear about your Mum, wishing her a speedy recovery and sending you some hugs too....these things can't always be detected straight away and nor can they be predicted so her being near to you when she gets back from Spain and you being able to offer her support really is the best thing you can do.

My Gran and OH's Gran both had strokes and needed a fair bit of TLC and support from family to help rebuild their confidence afterwards, this was a bigger issue than any physical after-effects of the strokes.

My experience of the Spanish national health system is positive so I hope that your Mum is finding the same.

Joe has just got in and read through the posts.

He feels really bad that I hadn't found this post sooner as he took in some of the details about your mum's symptoms and while at first they would have raised a little flag the problem with speech would certainly have rung alarm bells.

I too feel really bad for not reading all the little arrows these last few nights as we could have given you a ring Louise and Joe would have had a good chat about your mum and given some advice.

Just a pointer to others, if you think that Joe could be of help, PM me straight away as the email about the PM would reach me a lot more quickly with little chance of me missing an important post. We really don't mind if we can help.

Andrew, that is so kind of you both. Professionals aren't always keen to offer their skills like that! Thank you. :D

Oh Louise, I've just caught up with this thread. I really hope that your mum will be able to come home to you very soon.

There are some incredibly kind & supportive people on this forum, always willing to help out in anyway that they can. It's great to know that somebody somewhere cares.

My thoughts & prayers are with you & your family ,Louise.
