alexsamp
I was thinking of getting Muscovy Ducks. I have heard they have a great personality, but unfortunatley, Omlet doesn't tell you much about, can someone please tell me about their personality. Jimbob
Hi Alex I've got x2 muscovy ducks (females) and they are one of my favourite breeds. They are always winding up the other ducks, chickens & cats!! They wag their tail feathers and make a funny chirruping sound instead of quacking. They are definitely the most entertaining of all the ducks & hens. X1 of them comes in the kitchen and eats the cat food. She also jumps on my leg to be fed bread but they don't like being picked up. They will both eat from my hand though. They are meant to make great broody mums but when I got x1 of mine to sit she gradually destroyed all but x4 of the eggs! I'd love to get a drake and breed them but I've got to persuade the OH. They don't lay a large amount of eggs and they are good flyers (when young). I'd get more if I had enough room. They are quite placid and slow moving, not flighty or nervous, and definitely in charge of my group. They seem a lot more intelligent than the other ducks and are very entertaining to watch. They also perch On branches/fences which always makes me smile. Hope this helps. Jimbob
