ben179v
Don't quote me on this but we had some delivered with our Eglu last week and on the back was a Marriages logo so I'm guessing its the same stuff that they sell in the brown bags only repackaged. http://www.marriagefeeds.co.uk/feeds/organic-feeds

chicken bark
Personally I've not worried about Organic feed. I tried at first then realised some of the treats I gave them weren't organic so sort of defeated the idea. I have also read something about the oils used in organic feed may not actually be organic (something like that at the back of my mind). Maybe someone on here can shed some light on the dark recesses of my brain.
witzend
interesting - has anyone got any experience on the difference of organic/non organic - does it REALLY make a difference to the chickens/eggs?

Redwing
Even if you feed organic feed you cant call the eggs organic - something to consider

Chooks76
Even if you feed organic feed you cant call the eggs organic - something to consider Just out of interest why is that? Is it because the chickens have to be reared organically from birth or is it a certification issue...or both?
scarlettohara
Thought you were feeding Garvo
HungryOH
Have a look for a post called 'Feed composition' for information about ingredients in layers pellets. I started keeping track of which brands I fed to the hens and what the ingredients were. No matter which brand you buy, you can always 'top up' any ingredients that you consider to be lacking ...... not quite the point of a 'complete feed' but it can be done. surfer_chicken
The organic label is down to a lot of things, including the land the chickens are on. For example, if you used non-organic plant food on your vegetables, and then fed the chickens the greens the eggs would no longer be organic. I think most sheep/cattle farmers etc. have to wait at least 2 years without using any manmade products on their pastures before it is called organic land and I think it's longer for crop growers.
