ladybird1494
i have a lovely cockral (a bantum ) who im afraid to say has anoyed a couple of neboughers with is 6.30 wake up call! oopps. he is housed in a eglu and as a rule he is very good,my questions are,any suggestions for bit of *eglu sound proofing* will he be better when my hens arrive ?(am haveing two ) i would hate to get rid of him as ive hatched him and he is wonderfull and tame and happy to be handled.i am a little upset that thay have been talkig behind my back about it instead of chatting to me espessaly as one of them has a dog that barks loads during the day when im often in bed(im a midwife) thanks for letting me post fellow chicken lovers i
Olly
Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid it's unlikely that your cockerel will get any quieter when his 'wives' arrive - he'll have even more to shout about! There are very few of us who are able to keep cockerels, I'd love one but in a residential area it's just not possible. There are steps you can take to try and reduce the time he starts crowing, but they will also (in my view) reduce his quality of life, and he'll still cock-a-doodle at some point during the day. Sorry I can't be more positive.
