kyz1981
Hi, I am moving to a house where I can finally get Chickens! I Have decided to get a cube and a WIR from Averies4U. (saving like mad). I am hoping to free range them for 2hrs + most days but our new garden backs on to a farm and is semi rural so not sure about them Free ranging when no one is around, so want a space so that if they only get an hour or two out of their run on a day they wont be crowded. If I get a 12FT 6FT Run how may chickens would be happy in that space, I am unsure if I am going to get Bantam or large fowl, keep changing my mind so a number for both would be good! (know I am going to get morehen disease). Also any other advice would be great. Thanks

Id say 6 bantams or 4 largefowl if they are going to be in there most of the day. There are guidelines that state 1m squared per chicken (largefowl) is enough to classify as free ranging but that's a bit restrictive if you ask me. Seeing as your runs would be approximately 2mx4m, you would have 8m2 of space.
kyz1981
Thanks Thats great, I may try and get a bigger WIR made when I can see how the whole layout of our new garden will work. Thanks again
Space Chick
I reckon you'd be fine with around 6 large fowl in that space.
markAndCharlene
If you can get the coop off the ground (with a ramp) then this will give more area for them to run around in as well. It also gives them something to shelter under if your run isn't covered.
