Blooming midges where hovering and biting everyone but me (i borrowed the hens citronella). Nice break from the sunny this morning i just wish i could water the garden. The Dogmother Posted May 29, 2012 Author Share Posted May 29, 2012 Well, the heat and humidity didn't let up yesterday despite there being a good few clouds, including one enormous anvil cloud over in the east - guess that was heading off to the soaking party down on the Essex/Kent borders. Yesterday at 6pm the thermometer against my back wall (so in the sun) was registering 31deg. This morning is cooler and rapidly clouding up but very still, I am assured by my 'weather expert' friend that we're due for storms and a soaking; TBH the garden needs it and my water butts are almost empty! It's been much cooler for the past few days and we had quite a bit of rain on Saturday night- although not the forecasted thunderstorms! We desperately needed it- the garden was parched and all of our buts were dry. There was a very strong breeze over the weekend too. I was trying to stake plants but couldn't force any canes in the ground. We could do with another downpour really... at night if possible!
