Mrs dotte acting oddly... Broody?

Recommended Posts

My bantams are about 8 months old. I have 3 and they give me 2 eggs a day.

Mrs dotte my silver laced Wyandotte was the first to start laying and was pretty regular every day I think...

We is friendly and makes a hell of a noise on delivery of eggs!!

The last few days I've only had 1 egg (not sure from who!) but they have been spending lots of time in to house bit. Mrs dotte stinging in the nest box. I didn't want to disturb her for the first couple of times as I assumed she was laying or about to lay... But today when I went out she ruffled her feathers and was pretty feisty. I manage to get her off the net dnf pushed her into the run and shut the door.

There was one egg (and my fake one) so I ttok the egg and have left the run door shut to stop her going back in

But what if one of the others wants to lay?

I can't let her dominate the nest can I?

Is this bloodiness and what do I do about it!?! I don't have anywhere else I can put her so for the moment I've locked all 3 in the run area

Help please!!?!

Ps I'm a novice!!

This is how my Prilly started when she went broody, she is a LF Silver Laced Wyndotte .

If is it is you will need to restrict her daytime access to the nestbox, I was able to split my run she had food water etc and shelter, my mum said the important things is for her to be able to see her 'sisters' then each night I put her to bed with the others, took 10 days to break her. I know you can get special broody cages to do the same thing which you put above blocks to allow the air under to cool her down not sure how you use them, I was close to buying a foldable dog cage to act as one which I was going to put in the run with shelter food etc but luckily I didnt need it .... Im sure there are many more expierenced who can asi give you tips....

Good luck xx
