Luvachicken
Over the winter I added some chicken poo to the big barrel I plant my sweet peas in. My seeds in the seed compost didn't come up so I had to resort to ready grown ones from the garden centre. I planted them in the barrel although it was still cold at the time. They have done soooooooo well. On Sunday I picked 2 bunches, one in the morning and another later in the afternoon. Then yesterday I picked the biggest bunch ever. Every now and then I chuck some more chicken poo on the top of their soil and water it in. They seem to love it. Much better than the 2 measly bunches I got last year. I love sweet peas best of all, oh yeah and mesabryanthemums.
chickencam
Good news, my sweet peas are a failure this year, I planted loads direct and only have about three plants which are no where near flowering stage, but look healthy enough. I think that it was way too cold when I direct sowed them and also I had soaked the seeds first and left them for a couple of days instead of one and the water went mouldy I love them too and mesembryanthemum which I grew from seed one year and had loads. I have loads of asters, dahlias, cornflowers and honesty this year from seed, I find it hard to throw a healthy seedling away.
