chickencam
My colleague and I like the sound of King Keith, but don't see that happening... We were only saying the other day that Keith isn't a name you hear so much these days, perhaps that could spark a revival My OH is called Keith and there aren't many of them about and those that are tend to be dodgy characters, not my OH of course I am surprised that more hasn't been made of the royal wave, it was the first thing that he did when they brought him out of the door, so cute, made me chuckle I would like a James, my DS is James. Purplemaniacs
I would like a James, my DS is James. Me too, my son is James. I think it is unlikely but you never know. Chrissie
Chickendoodle
OK sad person that I am here goes. The last 3 to be born as male heirs to the throne are William, Charles and Edward V111 (George was not born as a future King so for my research I am discounting him and his name was Albert anyway ) We have William Arthur Philip Louis Charles Philip Arthur George Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David - whew!!! Kate's Dad is Michael I think. My prediction Arthur Charles Spencer Michael (I originally had Michael Spencer as the last 2 then realised it sounde like a certain well known store )
The Dogmother
I think we need to open a book on it!
Chickendoodle
I would assume that the Queen would need to approve of the name - can't see her agreeing to Wayne or anything like that It's so hard picking a name for a baby that I think having a fairly limited selection to choose from makes it much easier. I remember when Prince Harry (Henry) was born I thought it such an odd, old fashioned name. Of course it is commonplace now.
Lavenders_Blue
Hubby came home from work last night with a funny story. Girl in his office: I wonder what the Royal baby is going to be called? Hubby: I don't think they've picked anything yet, so The Prince of Cambridge for now. George seems to be the bookies favourite though. Girl: Really? I heard he was going to be called Tyler. Hubby: When he told me, I said she must have been joking, but apparently no, she was deadly serious!
Geoid
George Alexander Louis is the baby's name.

Cinnamon
Love it. I said to a customer yesterday that I thought Louis might crop up. They said nooooo...too French. Prince George. Very sweet.
soapdragon
Nice but very traditional; Alexander would have been lovely and just a little different.
Patricia W
But maybe they''ll use his second name at home. I'd guess the great- grandma would have had the final say on the official name for a future king.
The Dogmother
Lovely names, George was my guess too. The Queen has to 'approve' the names chosen, but I don't know whether she's ever vetoed any before.
Ain't Nobody Here
Nice names for a Prince . Slightly miffed when I settled down to watch Long Lost Family last night to find an hour of people talking about the Royal birth . What more is there to say, for goodness sake . Couldn't agree more.....how much waffle can you put up with? In the end I just found it funny that everyone was desperately trying to think of something to say to fill in the hours and hours....and then it turned out that George had been born over four hours before the announcement! Cinnamon
Now here's a thing. I heard today from 2 separate sources that if/when Charles becomes King, he wants to be know as King George. I wonder if that still stands? Odd thing to do imho. His parents obviously namedhim ewith the intention of him becoming King Charles. The Dogmother
True, but having said that, quite a few monarchs have used an different name from their given one.
Egluntyne
Yep. I once won a quiz because i knew that Queen Victoria's first name was actually Alexandrina. George VI was called Albert, but chose to be known as George for reassuring continuity with his father's reign after his brother's abdication. Cinnamon
I think that is really strange. No one will ever get used to calling Charles George, if that is indeed his intention.
Chickendoodle
George VI was called Albert, but chose to be known as George for reassuring continuity with his father's reign after his brother's abdication. I had heard also that the "powers that be" thought that Albert sounded too Germanic in the 1930's with the rise of Hitler. I personally don't think it sounds German, but then Prince Albert was German so it must do. My step-daughter's name is Sharon but she decided at the age of 30 that she wanted to be known as Morag. Very difficult to suddenly start using a different name to address someone.
Ain't Nobody Here
How peculiar, I never knew that . (Not about your step-daughter, ChickenDoodle, I don't suppose I was expected to know that .)
