debbiedoobs
Hi, i have a 2 week old chick that was hatched under a broody and as its my first time im slightly worried bout her getting cold. Even though its quite warm at the moment its still raining and i can hear the chick constantly cherping although she is under her mums wing. Just seems weird as if i'd have incubated her inside she would be under a constant heat lamp, wouldn't she?
Purplemaniacs
If she is with mum I am sure she will be fine. Chrissie
sjp
it should be fine I've had a broody hatch and successfully raise chicks in January and February the Feb ones hatched to below freezing temps. it's when they get wet that problems can occur but as long as they have a dry coop to go into they should be ok. the loud cheeping could be that it's an only 'child' or that mom won't let it out to play, or it's just a plain gobby little sod like one of mine is I can her it half way up the street at times
debbiedoobs
Yeh think that you're right, she's just a bit gobby! Lol. They have their own coop with attached run that is well shaded from the weather. Managed to get hold of them both for a little cuddle and they were fine, although every time it thundered the chick got scared. Poor chucks, mine dont really like getting rained on!
