Groovychook
Had a lovely couple of days despite both having come down with a cold lergy on Saturday morning. Most annoying and rubbish timing as I never get ill! I have to tell you Dogmother, that it seriously affected my ability to do much neck sniffing but gazing hasn't been a problem He's been such a perfect bundle of joy. Didn't have a grizzle out of him yesterday- lots of smiles and chuckles. Put him down at 7.30 and he slept soundly through till 7.30 this morning Woke to hear him happily gurgling away to himself and he gave us both a big cheesy grin! Had a lovely, cuddly day today and he's just nodded off. Hopefully we'll have another night like last night. I'm not looking forward to him catching this bug though... we've had quite a few sneezes this evening so I think it's due. It's left us feeling pretty grotty so I hope he just gets a mild dose... I have infant calpol at the ready Promise to post some photo's tomorrow. Been ever so slightly distracted so far!

Purplemaniacs
Such lovely news. I was thinking about you all weekend and wondering how you were getting on. DD is very jealous of the sleeping at night, her DD who is also 6 months can only manage about 5 hours on a good night Look forward to seeing some photos when you get a chance. chickencam
Glad to hear that he is happy and settled, shame about the cold, but at least he let you have a good nights rest. Hope that you feel better soon and you can enjoy him to the full.
Groovychook
Oh dear... he's caught the lergy He still had a fairly good night and slept from 7pm till 5 this morning, but there was a lot of coughing and sneezing going on during the early hours. He's a bit fractious this morning and finding it hard to breath through his nose although he seems to have settled for the moment. We've given him a half dose of calpol and read that he should be getting lots of rest and that we should keep his fluids up. We've propped his mattress up slightly too. Is there anything else we could do to make him more comfortable? Any Omletty words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Despite all of this, he's been quite smiley. He's such a sweet little man- I'm completely and utterly besotted Edited November 12, 2013 by Guest
The Dogmother
Try draping a damp towel over the radiator in his room and putting a few drops of Olbas Oil on it; that helps no end when they are congested and wheezy. Rosie used to be chesty as a smallster and it really helped her breathe at night. He sounds adorable.
Grandmashazzie
If he has trouble feeding and breathing at the same time saline drops/spray up each nostril before a feed will help clear his airways. Also he may be happier taking solids as he doesn't have to try and breath and suck bottle which can be hard if he's bunged up. kinsk
Only just seen this but congratulations. I was adopted at 4 months and so know what an amazing thing it is to do for a child. Hoping your little man gets over his lurgy soon.
C&T
Our 6 month old has the lurgy too at the moment. It is everywhere! Not nice for them though, and not nice to watch either. Tummy time is great at bringing down the snot, or a bouncer if you have one. We have a really dry house (hot air heating) so we splashed out on a humidifier. Been fantastic for during the night. I am sure he will be over it before you know it though
Groovychook
Thank you all! We've tried all of those suggestions apart from the nasal spray... I'll go and get some of that from the chemists tomorrow. He's got a bowl of steaming albas infused water in his room, he's been 'bounced' around the bedroom (sang a ridiculously 'bouncing' themed song at the same time which he loved ), had some tummy time and wolfed down his solids Poor little man has really suffered today and got himself into a bit of a state before bedtime. He's settled for now and hopefully tomorrow with be better for him. Didn't do a photo shoot today as I want my little handsome looking a bit chirpier before I share him with you all! soapdragon
Probably a bit late for tonight but it often helps to prop the head end of the cot/bed up so that Bub is at a slight angle - helps the gunge drain as they don't have pillows at that age!! You can buy special rubber cup thingys from expensive catalogues to go under both 'top' legs but YS's bed is permanently propped with a couple of Jeremy Clarkson paperbacks! Groovychook
YS's bed is permanently propped with a couple of Jeremy Clarkson paperbacks! That'll go on the list for tomorrow!
Goosey Lucy
When YS was snotty and chesty, we found taking him into a steamy bathroom helped. He still sleeps with his mattress raised by a couple of pillows and I should have bought shares in Olbas Oil.
soapdragon
YS's bed is permanently propped with a couple of Jeremy Clarkson paperbacks! That'll go on the list for tomorrow! I don't think Jeremy Clarkson is mandatory anything not too thick would be fine; War and Peace would send the poor little lad shooting straight to the bottom of the cot in a heap! Or you could fold a towel or similar and put it under the mattress head end- would do the same job!
Groovychook
Well, one week in and thoroughly enjoying parenthood although I'm not sure where all the time goes He's nearly over his cold and is a much more cheerful little chap. I've got photo's to post up but just need a minute to do battle with photobucket. Promise to have a go later. Sorry for the delay!
