soapdragon
Has anyone news of Cinnamon? She has be absent for quite a while now - I've PM'd her but no response. I guess she and OH have been busy on the house etc but am still a little perturbed..............
Patricia W
I’m following her adventures on Facebook. They are doing really well with the renovations. It looks absolutely amazing! I sent your regards to her, Soapy, and she sent hers back. She says she doesn’t often get on the forums much these days.
soapdragon
Thanks for that, Patricia! Good to hear that they are cracking on....maybe a Forum coach trip to France next Summer then I don't do any social media (does the Forum count?) and really don't feel I'm missing out until it comes to something like this! soapdragon
Having managed to kill my poor Kefir grains over the hot summer due to inattention I've now ordered some more. E Bay (where else do I ever shop ) but from an organic farm in Sussex. Am looking forward to getting going again. How is everyone else doing with their grains? soapdragon
It's arrived and is now 'doing it's thing' in the kitchen! Am guessing it'll take a bit longer to get going after the journey but I am hopeful for a glass of Kefir on Thursday!
Patricia W
I might ‘beg’ some of your overflow. I’m spending a fortune on the stuff from Waitrose. Maybe another meet up beckons..
soapdragon
Absolutely; I should have a surplus in a few weeks time! I'll PM you!
The Dogmother
I always have extra grains if anyone wants some... I can just let them grow on rather than taking the extra out. It's a good idea, when you have extra to take them out and freeze in a small plastic container; I keep a 'bank' of extra grains to defrost if I have stopped fermenting because I have been away. soapdragon
Wow, I'm amazed that they survive the freezer. Do they then take a while longer to get fermenting again?
The Dogmother
Not really, I just pop them into room temperature milk and give them a but longer than usual. I was surprised that they'd survive, but they do.
patsylabrador
Yesterday was supposed to be autumn chores in the garden but it turned into this. Not many chores got done.
Grandmashazzie
Looks yummy. Onto Kefir, yes I froze mine for a month while we were away and I don’t think it is as good, maybe imagination. What’s the maximum you would leave it in milk? I have left it 3 days as I forgot to pick up organic milk. It looked and smelt awful, but we drank it anyway, though at that point you wonder are you just drinking off milk. My grains seem to be not multiplying as much as before they were frozen
The Dogmother
Mine have always been fine Shazzie; I was expecting problems, so was surprised

Thats to go with the puppy we have been offered, not sure if its been born yet and is ready to go in Dec, or if its going to be born in Dec. Hmmm. Tempted by both, but its really not a sensible choice with Brexit looming. Kitten Puppy Noone knows what will happen with Brexit and the pet passport scheme but I'm sure there will be a way. Celine will be travelling to the UK next year, hopefully in June but she'll go in March if she has to.
Patricia W
Yes, we’re worried about getting our dog, Nell, into France and then into Spain next year, let alone getting her back again. Surely common sense will prevail....
Lewis
Nothing has been decided so just speculating but vets I've spoken to about it have suggested titre testing may be involved to avoid quarantine. They said keep on top of annual vaccinations and that should provide sufficient cover, that's what I'm doing anyway.
